Going into the final round of games it was do or die now for these eight teams. First up was Skidmarks versus Rapid Bosco Navas. We had four previous Cup winning teams in the tournament draw and two of them would now meet face to face as the 2011 Valencia Fives & 2012 Krakow Trophy winners met the 2008 Barcelona Fives winners.

Skidmarks were hitting form at just the right time. They topped the group at the end of Round 6 and a victory here would potentially see them win a group for the fourth time. They would also be looking at the result of The Spice Boys versus Prospe FC as a win for The Spice Boys combined with a Skidmarks win would see it come down to goal difference. Skidmarks currently held the advantage at +12 compared to +9.

It was now official that Rapid Bosco Navas would miss out on Cup qualification for just the third time in 11 Barcelona tournaments. Their task now was to make the Plate – they were currently 1 place and 1 point behind Bruton Black Cats.

The form book today suggested a Skidmarks win but as we'd seen with Ladzio FC's defeat of Prospe FC in Round 6 the form book isn't always right. It was here though – Richard Keeley opened the scoring with his fourth strike of the day before Gary Hatfield broke his Barcelona duck. Jamie Dewinter's third of the tournament sealed a 3-0 victory.

Skidmarks knew that they had qualified for the Cup but if it was in first or second place they had to await the result of The Spice Boys game against Prospe FC – as long as The Spice Boys hadn't hit them for six then Skidmarks would be Group B champions.

A quick glance over to the adjacent Pitch B would see The Spice Boys versus Prospe FC. This game was huge – both teams had a chance of qualifying for the Cup and both had been on fire until Round 6 where they suffered defeat. The teams quickly had to regroup for one last push in Group B.

It was advantage The Spice Boys as they held a 3 point lead over their opponents so they knew that a draw would be enough for them to qualify for the Cup. They were still in with a shout of winning Group B if they bettered Skidmarks result or if they equaled Skidmarks result they needed a 3 goal swing in goal difference to their benefit.

From the Prospe FC perspective, only a win would be good enough. They would then move level with The Spice Boys but needed a 2 goal win to go level on goal difference. The Spice Boys had scored more so effectively Prospe FC needed a 3 goal win. Prospe FC even had an outside shot at the Group B title if they won and Skidmarks lost with a 5 goal swing in goal difference.

Prospe FC slipped up last time out but they produced the goods here as Javier Ortega scored a double to put his team in charge. It wasn't really about win/lose/draw now for The Spice Boys as their immediate goal was to prevent Prospe FC extending their lead to three goals. They did just that as Samuel Oduntan pulled a goal back to make it 2-1. That goal effectively sealed their Cup qualification.

Prospe FC ultimately paid the price for that 2-0 loss to Ladzio FC in the last round as they finished third to qualify for the Plate.

The penultimate game of Group B was Telferscot FC versus Bruton Black Cats. Bruton Black Cats currently occupied fourth position and needed to equal or better the result of Rapid Bosco Navas to preserve their Plate qualification place.

Telferscot FC were looking at qualification for the Trophy competition. They were currently sixth but could rise the fifth should Rapid Bosco Navas lose and there be a four goal swing in goal difference in their favour. Telferscot also had to be wary of those coming up behind. Should Telferscot FC lose then Ladzio FC could eliminate them with a win. Atletico Bardino could also eliminate them with a win and a 3 goal swing in goal difference. A draw for Telferscot FC would probably be enough given Ladzio FC's -12 goal difference.

As it turned out, Telferscot did not have to worry too much about those below them as they ran out 2-0 winners. Nick Maroussas claimed his first goal of the tournament to put his side 1-0 up and didn't have to wait too long for his second to come along. His goals along with Joe Lambert's third clean sheet of the morning meant his team would secure their place in the Trophy and, as it turned out, finish 5th above Rapid Bosco Navas.

For Bruton Black Cats, the Rapid Bosco Navas defeat was also good news as they held on to fourth position and qualified for the Plate.

The final game of Group B was Ladzio FC versus Atletico Bardino. It was the team with the Italian sounding name against an actual team from Italy. The teams resided in 7th and 8th at the start of play but both had a chance to avoid elimination and qualify for the Trophy. They both needed Telferscot to lose and then win themselves – Telferscot were playing on Pitch C – out of view from Pitch D so these two teams would have to try and win the game and then hope the result from Pitch C would help them out.

Round 6 was a great one for Ladzio FC as they claimed a great win against an in-form Prospe FC and cost them their place in the Cup. If Ladzio FC could extend that winning run to two games they might just continue in this tournament.

Atletico Bardino had struggled for goals today but they needed to find a successful path to goal here to preserve their place in the tournament. Sadly for them the river ran dry again.

There was to be just the one goal in this game and it came from Ricardo Sumal. He scored both in the victory over Prospe FC and he scored again versus Atletico Bardino. We need to give respect to Sayem Bablu Ahmed too as he kept his second clean sheet in a row. Ladzio FC had awoken the beast inside with two wins out of two at the end of Group B. Alas for them though it was too little too late due to Telferscot FC's win on Pitch C. They finished on a high though with wins over Italian and Spanish opposition. We hope they come back to eurofootballfives.com action soon and if/when they do they will kick-off looking for a third successive win.

It was also time to say farewell to Atletico Bardino. It was a pleasure to host them and we thank them for joining us at the Barcelona Fives – hopefully the first of many eurofootballfives.com appearances.
