At
the start of Round 2 we had Ealing Expendables
versus Giggs Boson FC.
Ealing
Expendables were making their third @eurofootball5's
appearance. They kicked off their eurofootballfives.com
journey at the 2014 Valencia Fives and made an
impressive start to life in Europe. They won Group
C with four wins from four games to qualify for
the Cup competition. They emerged victorious from
a 10-goal thriller in the Quarter-Finals seeing
off Real L'Bourne 6-4. There were goals aplenty
in their Semi-Final too but this time they were
on the wrong end of a 7-3 scoreline to Spain's
Penethinaikos.
They
followed this up with an appearance at the 2015
Lisbon Tournament and drew a very tough group
that featured the two finalists. They finished
4 th out of 6 to qualify for the Plate. A 3-0
QF win over PPB (Por) prefaced a 4-1 defeat to
Shahs of Sunset (Eng) – who are also here in Barcelona
(in Group D).
Both
teams had a good start today, Ealing Expendables
took a point off the defending champions whilst
Giggs Boson secured a comprehensive 5-0 win.
Giggs
Boson FC continued their form from the first game
here as they made the initial breakthrough courtesy
of Will Davis's third goal of the morning. It
was 6 goals without reply for them but that was
about to change. Ealing Expendables were pegged
back to 1-1 in their first game but now it was
them doing the pegging back. Their scorer in this
one, as it was in the first game, was James Oldham.
There
would be a winner and the man whose strike would
earn 3 points for his team was Connor Lawson in
the colours of Giggs Boson. A good win for them
as they were the early pacesetters in Group A.
