Round 5 began with Real Sosobad and RAF. In the lower half of the table there were three teams chasing fourth position and the final Plate qualification place. Real Sosobad had the hardest task of those three teams as they up against our league leaders. RAF had a 100% record with 4 wins from 4 and came into this match on the back of a 6-0 win.

RAF only needed a point to secure the Group B title but they would no doubt want to keep their winning run going. They forged ahead in the second half thanks to an Andre Mateus goal (his second in successive games). Real Sosobad were still in the hunt at half-time as they only trailed 1-0.

Perhaps with the knowledge they were already through and were on the way to the group win, RAF failed to kill off their opponents in this tie. Real Sosobad hit back and grabbed an unlikely equalizer through Alex Kahl, his fifth of the day. In the end, Real Sosobad pulled off a stunning result. It might not be enough to reach the Plate subject to other results but they had done all they could. Well done to them.

The penultimate game of Group B was Ball Bashers versus Cream of the South. Ball Bashers still needed a point to make sure they were mathematically safe in the Cup competition. A draw/win would see them finish second. If they were to lose they would need Freshers FC to fail to win or, if they did win to do so without a 7 goal swing in goal difference.

They were up against Cream of the South who had to win. A loss would see them fall at least a point short of the Plate places, a draw would see them miss out on goal difference. A win would be enough subject to the result of Murder on Zidane's Floor's final game.

It was Ball Bashers who took the early initiative as Ben Williams put his team 1-0 up in the opening half. It proved to be a goal in each half for Ben Williams and Ball Bashers as they chalked up a 2-0 victory. They had secured Cup football and were now, potentially, just two games from glory.

It was somewhat surprising that Cream of the South only had the one win to show for their efforts as they had remained competitive throughout even amongst the Cup qualifiers. It was not to be though and we had to say farewell to them for today.

So, the last game on the field in Group B would be Murder on Zidane's Floor versus Freshers FC.

There was not much at stake for Freshers FC in the context of Group B as they had already secured Plate qualification and Ball Bashers' win above meant the Cup was now out of reach. However, they would still want to secure third for an advantageous Plate Semi-Final draw and keep momentum going into the knockout phase.

Murder on Zidane's Floor had Plate qualification on the line. If they could beat Freshers FC they would climb to fourth position and make the knockout phase. A 6-goal win would even see them climb to third. A draw would see them miss out on the Plate via goal difference to Real Sosobad. A loss would see them miss out in sixth place.

Freshers FC had looked in great form today and it was perhaps no surprise that it was they who took the lead. Joe Trigg scored not once but twice in the first half to put his team in control. Murder on Zidane's Floor were facing an uphill struggle now and that uphill struggle became a mountain to climb when Toby Porter made it 3-0.

Assad Slamat headed in from a corner to reduce the deficit to 3-1 but it was too little too late for Murder on Zidane's Floor. Freshers FC would march on to the Plate competition.
