With their first games under their belts it was Round 2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle in to the tournament. Up next on Pitch 4 was FC Kicks versus Colden Hommodore.

FC Kicks made a superb debut in eurofootballfives.com action last week at the 2022 Amsterdam Fives. They got off to a flyer with a 4-1 win over Columbia's Finest FC, 3-0 v NiB Catenaccio, 3-2 v Sporting Armada, 5-2 v Real Sosobad and 4-1 over Red Cow Belgrade. They finished the group phase with a 100% record. 5 wins out of 5 with 19 goals scored and just 6 conceded. In the Cup Semi-Finals they needed a last minute winner to knock-out Atletico Armada. In the Cup Final they defeated Sporting Armada for a second time, 6-2, to lift the title.

Today, FC Kicks had slipped to a 2-0 defeat in Round 1 and would be keen to bounce back quickly to keep hopes of a second title alive. They were up against Colden Hommodore who had won 3-0 in their first game. FC Kicks and Colden Hommodore proved to be well matched. Defences were on top and the game ultimately ended 0-0. Only time would tell if this was a point gained or two points dropped for these teams.

Humble Goats were the 2022 Amsterdam Sevens winners just a game ago. Their story is a similar one to FC Kicks above.

They opened up with four wins on the bounce – 4-0 v JK Silvertown, 2-0 v Murder on Zidane's Floor, 3-0 v Turn Down For Watford and 2-1 v FC Tpaktop. They drew their final group game (0-0 v Colonel Getafe) which meant they finished joint top of Group A level on points with Colonel Getafe. Both teams had the same goal difference but Colonel Getafe had scored one more goal so won the group. In the knockout phase Humble Goats drew 0-0 with City FC before winning on pens. In the Cup Final they also drew 0-0 with The Gentleman's Club and won the title via another penalty shoot-out.

Today, they lost their opener 3-1. They were up against London French FC. The team representing France had already seen of the challenge of the 2022 Fives champions (FC Kicks), could they do the same to the Sevens champions? Hidde Makimel gave Humble Goats the lead in the first half. They had plenty of chances to make it 2-0 but played the extra pass when they could have shot or when they shot they found Nick Moura in the French goal in inspired form.

Ultimately this cost Humble Goats as London French FC scored a late equalizer through Ahmed Cherif. Full-time, 1-1.

To complete Round 2 we had Dolce and Lallana versus Whiteley FC. So far in Round 2 there had been no mobility with 2 draws out of 2 games. A win here for either team would see the victor make ground on all the other teams in Group A.

Dolce and Lallana had started superbly today as they defeated the 2022 Amsterdam Sevens champions, Humble Goats, in Round 1. They were up against Whiteley FC who had a long tradition in our tournaments including our very first event – the 2008 Amsterdam Fives! Back then they put opening game defeat behind them (4-3 v SV Amstelland) to collect wins against Scotland's Intellectual George (3-2) and then 8-1 v IFC Stella. They qualified for the Cup Quarter-Final and drew 4-4 with Jay's Carconnect before going through 5-4 via Golden Goal. They were undone in the Semi-Final, 5-3, against Stag & Co.

They needed to recover from opening game defeat today but were unable to do so. Dolce and Lallana continued their strong start to the tournament as they opened up a 4-0 first half lead. Thomas Forster scored a hat-trick in Round 1 and he was on target again to make the initial breakthrough. Harry Nicholls made it 2-0 before it Thomas Forster resumed goal-scoring duties as he made it 3-0 and 4-0 with his second hat-trick in as many games.

After the break Luke Webley made it 5-0 before Whiteley FC had the final world. Adam Oakey scored a consolation to make it 5-1. Last goal wins?
