We began Round 2 with Freshers FC versus Real Sosonad.

Freshers FC made their tournament debut with us at the 2015 Barcelona Fives. They were impressive in the group phase with 2 wins and 1 draw from their 4 games. They finished second in Group B behind the eventual winners. They qualified for the Cup Quarter-Finals although went out to Ireland's Alabama Hotpockets (Ire), 2-1.

They returned to action at the 2018 Gdansk Tournament and their first game was against their Barcelona conquerors, the Hotpockets. This time they earned a 1-1 draw. They then defeated FC Dad (3-2) before losing to FC Foreigntina by the reverse scoreline. They bounced back with a 4-0 win over Spider Mans & Eagle before completing the group with a 1-1 draw against Alea Iacta Est. They finished third of 6 teams in the table to qualify for the Plate. In the Quarter-Finals they defeated I Love Utd & Drinking Shandies, 3-0. In the Semi-Finals they defeated Ireland's Deportivo Dooradoyle 5-2. The Plate Final saw them finish runners-up after a 3-1 defeat to FC Shark.

They had a tough opening game against RAF but were dominant in the first half here against Real Sosobad. Despite their dominance they were unable to find the goals their performance merited as the teams changed ends level at 0-0. They were able to break the deadlock in the second period as Scott Efford made it 1-0. Toby Porter then added a second and Freshers FC were en route to their first win of the day.

Alex Kahl scored a late consolation for Real Sosobad but it didn't effect the destination of the points. Full-time, 2-1.

Game #5 of Group B was Murder on Zidane's Floor versus Cream of the South. The two teams had mixed results this morning. Murder on Zidane's Floor had slipped to a 3-0 defeat to Ball Bashers whilst Cream of the South had got off to a winning start over Real Sosobad.

Murder on Zidane's Floor had made their debut at last week's 2022 Amsterdam Sevens tournament. They opened up with a 1-0 defeat to Colonel Getafe and then eventual winners Humble Goats, 2-0. They then lost 1-0 to FC Tpaktop before picking up a 1-0 win over JK Silvertown. They were competitive throughout until their final fixture which saw a 4-1 defeat to Turn Down For Watford. It was a result that would eliminate them from the tournament as they finished 5 th in the table.

Here at the Amsterdam Sixes they were about to record their first win of the day and the second in their eurofootballfives.com career. A solitary first half strike from Daniel Flynn was enough to separate the two teams. Full-time, 1-0.

The game that would complete Round 2 was Ball Bashers against RAF. Both teams opened up with an opening game victory and both teams had looked impressive. We knew RAF's track record from previous tournaments and this game appeared as if it could be an early Group B decider.

RAF made their debut at the 2015 Algarve Open playing as Futeboladas and surged to victory. They finished 2nd in their group with 4 wins out of 5 to RC Lens. They won a 4-3 thriller in the Cup Quarter-Finals against Algarve Stars before a 3-1 win over Why Always Morris in the Semi-Final. They then met RC Lens again in the Cup Final. RC Lens won the group game (2-0) but Futeboladas won the game that really mattered (3-0) to collect the title.

Since then they have been looking for their second title but it has proved elusive despite them getting close – including a runners-up performance just last month at the 2022 Lisbon Tournament. They looked to be in determined mood today and it was the Portuguese who took the lead in this one. Tiago Nogueira scored twice in Round 1 and he added another to his tally in the first half here.

In the second half Ball Bashers pulled level with Mati Ortiz's second goal in as many games. They were not level for too long though as RAF restored the lead thanks to a strike from David Nascimento. When the referee blew for full-time, RAF had the win and also the lead at the top of Group B.
