We began Round 4 with the Netherlands taking on the Netherlands as Humble Goats met Colden Hommodore. The two teams currently found themselves in third and fourth positions which were the Plate qualification places. A win here could promote them up to the Cup qualification places. Defeat could see them vulnerable to the teams behind them overhauling them and facing elimination.

Humble Goats had recorded a curious run of results in our tournaments stretching back to last week. They won 4 games in a row at the start of the Amsterdam Sevens and then drew 3 games in a row before defeat in the opening game of the Amsterdam Sixes. They had gone 4 games without victory until they beat FC Kicks 4-0 in the previous game. If they could get back on a winning run they could well reach the Cup and be peaking at the right time.

Jihad L'Merrouni gave Humble Goats a first half lead in this game but they were pegged back after the break as Alex Antonelli kept his fine personal run going with his third strike of the day. Nathan Kilgore then gave Colden Hommodore the lead at 2-1. Humble Goats had lost their lead in their opening two games but now they were the team that needed to hit back….and they did. Matheus Monteiro Alves was the man whose goal ensured this game would finish 2-2.

In Game 11 of Group A we had London French FC versus Dolce and Lallana. This was a battle between the top two teams. In the previous game, they had seen their two closest rivals draw and as such London French FC & Dolce and Lallana would remain the top two – but in which order?

A London French FC win would guarantee both teams would qualify for the Cup and they would go top of the table by a point with one game to go. Dolce and Lallana could secure Cup qualification and the Group A title were they to win. In fact, a draw would be enough for Dolce and Lallana to qualify for the Cup, it would mean London French FC still needed a point from their final fixture.

London French FC soared into the ascendency in this one as they quickly opened up a 2-0 lead. Pablo Daurignac scored both goals and put Dolce and Lallana in trouble for the first time today. They had been great front-runners so far but how would they respond to adversity? Pretty well is the answer. Thomas Forster's 8 th of the tournament reduced the deficit to 2-1 before Joe Tillett's first goal of the day arrived just at the right time to secure a point for his team.

To complete Round 4 we had Whiteley FC versus FC Kicks. These two sides were currently in the bottom two positions and currently facing elimination from the tournament. They were 5 points and 4 points behind the Plate qualification places at kick-off. Whitely FC simply had to win their final two games to make it out of the group. FC Kicks could theoretically still make it through with 4 points but they would need a recovery in goal difference and other results to go their way. Ideally, they needed two wins too.

We have to concede it was a surprise to see FC Kicks in this predicament having won 7 out of 7 games in the Amsterdam Fives but without a win in 3 games here. Of course, the Sixes tournament had a different dynamic to the Fives and FC Kicks were missing their 11-goal top-scorer Auke Jager from last week. They had only scored twice today as they struggled to replace Jager's goals but they had a contender in this game. Jeffrey was the man with the golden touch in this game as he scored twice to see off the challenge of Whiteley FC. The win saw FC Kicks remain in fifth but were now just 1 point behind the two teams in the Plate qualification places.
