Round 5 began with Groove Armada and Minisernal. Groove Armada could no longer qualify for the Cup competition but they were favourites to finish third. They needed just the one point to guarantee that position. They were guarantee to progress to the Plate as their two nearest rivals were due to meet each other in Round 5.

Minisernal knew this would be their last game of the day as they could no longer reach fourth position or higher. They could potentially reach fifth with a win, a Spider Mans defeat and a swing in goal difference to end their day on a positive note. They got off to a decent start as they lead for the first time since their opening fixture. Sergio Flores was the man to open the scoring. They could not maintain that lead though as Groove Armada hit back through Josh Matthews and Jack Rusbridge.

Minisernal kicked off the second half 2-1 down but they were soon to turn that around to lead 3-2. Sergio Flores scored two more to complete his hat-trick and take his tally for the day to 5. Again, they couldn't retain that lead as Groove Armada responded again through Josh Matthews and Ethan McCreight. This time they didn't let Minisernal back in as Josh Matthews increased the lead to 5-3 before Paul Oliver sealed a 6-3 victory.

The penultimate game of Group B was Amsterdam Barbarians versus Atletico Armada. This was a top of the table clash. Both teams had already secured Cup qualification but the Group B title was still up for grabs. This was still an important game not just for the sporting win, the honour of victory and the group win but also to get a theoretically easier Cup Semi-Final tie. It was also a chance to lay down a marker in case these two teams would meet again in the Cup Final later today.

Atletico Armada also had a 100% record to preserve but that achievement was under threat when Yassin Amellal put Amsterdam Barbarians 1-0 up. Jimmy Denman equalized in the second half for Atletico Armada as the goals began to flow. Redwan Amellal restored the lead for the Barbarians before Dean Stockdale put Armada level again at 2-2. Stockdale put Atletico ahead for the first time in the game at 3-2 but this time it was Amsterdam Barbarians who levelled, Yassin Amellal with his second of the game.

If the game finished in a draw it would be Atletico Armada who would claim the Group A win so Amsterdam Barbarians needed to find a winner…..and they did. Luca Barbet scoring his most valuable goal of the day. Amsterdam Barbarians won Group A – many congratulations to them. Both teams had put on a fine display in the group phase.

So, the last game on the field in Group B would be Milstead versus Spider Mans & Eagle.

This was effectively a straight shoot-out for fourth position and the second Plate qualification place. Whoever won the game would go through, whoever lost would be eliminated. Should the game end in a draw then it would be Milstead who went through as they enjoyed a 1 point lead over their opponents in the league table.

Spider Mans & Eagle got off to their best start of the day. It was the first game in which they had scored first and it was their top scorer, Ryan Stevens, who claimed the goal. He moved on to 8 for the tournament and maintained his record of scoring in every game, a fine achievement. It got even better for Spider Mans & Eagle when Sam A'Court gave them a 2-0 lead. Things did not look good for Milstead at this stage but they grabbed a lifeline before half-time when Fei McCabe cut the lead to 2-1.

Milstead remember only needed the draw so needed just 1 more goal (without reply) to go through. The game was on a knife-edge and it swung in Milstead's favour when Fei McCabe levelled things up at 2-2. It could easily swing back though and the next goal would likely be crucial. Whoever scored it would surely seal their place in the Plate.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Fei McCabe. He completed his hat-trick and sealed his team's passage through to the knockout phase. Final score, 3-2.
