We began Round 5 with the group perfectly set-up – we began with 1st versus 3rd. Although Red Cow Belgrade were only two points behind Sporting Armada there was no jeopardy in this game as we knew Sporting Armada would have their 3 points added for the walkover win against NiB Catennacio. Looking over their should they also knew they were safe in the Plate. This game was therefore a bit of a free hit but if they could pick up victory it would send them into the knockout phase with a big confidence boost and momentum.

FC Kicks still had something to play for. They would no doubt want to win the Group A title not only for the honour but also for the prospect of a theoretically easier Cup Semi-Final tie. A victory, draw or 2 goal defeat would see them win Group A. A heavy defeat would see them slip below Sporting Armada.

FC Kicks blitzed their opponents in the first half of this game. Auke Jager was in the goals again as he took his tally to 5 for the tournament and put his team 1-0 up. Jasper Kuipers also took his tally to 5 as he made it 2-0. Joost Joper then scored his first and second goals of the tournament as FC Kicks were 4-0 up at half-time.

Red Cow Belgrade stopped the rot in the second half and actually reduced the deficit as Joe Howitt made it 4-1. Unfortunately for Red Cow Belgrade there is no “last goal wins” rule at the Amsterdam Fives. Congratulations to FC Kicks who secured the Group A title and will enter the Cup as one of the favourites.

Next up was Real Sosobad versus Columbia's Finest FC. Red Cow Belgrade had already secured the first Plate qualification place. This game was effectively a winner takes all fixture to find out who would join them.

As we entered the game it was Real Sosobad who held the advantage in the league table with 4 points compared to their opponent's 3. A draw was good enough for the Dutch team but only a win would do for Columbia's Finest FC.

A win was what Columbia's Finest FC needed and it certainly looked on the cards after a stunning first half performance. William Drinkwater put the English team ahead before Max Moggridge made it 2-0. IT would get better yet as William Drinkwater added another for 3-0. At half-time they were in a commanding position.

However, the second half saw Real Sosobad stage a comeback. Gary Gee first of reduced the deficit to 3-1 and then again to 3-2 as the Dutch piled on the pressure. Another goal for Real Sosobad would be enough to see them qualify at the expense of Columbia's Finest FC. However, the English team held on and it was instead Real Sosobad who exited the tournament. Columbia's Finest FC were through to the next phase with hopes of glory still alive.

To conclude Group A we just added the 3-0 win for Sporting Armada as they secured Cup qualification for the first time in our events. Congratulations to them.
