Next
up was Real Sosobad versus Columbia's Finest
FC. Red Cow Belgrade had already secured the
first Plate qualification place. This game was
effectively a winner takes all fixture to find
out who would join them.
As
we entered the game it was Real Sosobad who
held the advantage in the league table with
4 points compared to their opponent's 3. A draw
was good enough for the Dutch team but only
a win would do for Columbia's Finest FC.
A
win was what Columbia's Finest FC needed and
it certainly looked on the cards after a stunning
first half performance. William Drinkwater put
the English team ahead before Max Moggridge
made it 2-0. IT would get better yet as William
Drinkwater added another for 3-0. At half-time
they were in a commanding position.
However,
the second half saw Real Sosobad stage a comeback.
Gary Gee first of reduced the deficit to 3-1
and then again to 3-2 as the Dutch piled on
the pressure. Another goal for Real Sosobad
would be enough to see them qualify at the expense
of Columbia's Finest FC. However, the English
team held on and it was instead Real Sosobad
who exited the tournament. Columbia's Finest
FC were through to the next phase with hopes
of glory still alive.
