Next
up was Minisernal versus Spider Mans & Eagle
as the Netherlands met England.
Spider
Mans & Eagle (Eng) were the most experienced
team in the draw as they were making eurofootballfives.com
appearance #13 in Amsterdam. Their most recent
appearance was the 2020 Warsaw Tournament –
our sole event that year due to the pandemic.
They opened up with a 3-1 defeat to FC Foreigntina
before drawing 1-1 with Red Cow Belgrade. Another
1-1 draw with Dragon Balls preceded a 1-0 win
over FC Maroon. Despite just the one defeat
they finished third in Group B. They qualified
for the Plate competition where they met Boca
Seniors Warsaw in the Semi-finals. A narrow
1-0 loss saw them exit the competition.
It
was a slow start for the team this year as they
quickly found themselves 2-0 down due to goals
from Abdul Laouar and Christopher Eteka. A Ryan
Stevens strike before half-time gave them hope
for the second half. After the break Spider
Mans & Eagle moved through the gears as
Ryan Stevens levelled the game at 2-2. Liam
Stevens made it 3-2 and then 4-2 before a Christopher
Eteka goal reduced the deficit to 4-3 for a
potentially nervous finish. Ryan Stevens hat-trick
goal though sealed a thrilling 5-3 victory for
the travelling team.
