After 35 games of football we came down to the big one. Game 36 – The 2022 Amsterdam Fives Cup Final.

The two teams set to do battle for the honour and glory of victory represented the Netherlands and England. It was FC Kicks versus Sporting Armada. FC Kicks were bidding to become the first Dutch team to win this title since Benecke in 2016. Sporting Armada were aiming to become the eighth English winner of this tournament and the fourth in succession following wins for BSP FC (2017), Melee FC (2018) and Epsilon Rovers (2019).

So, those are the facts and figures – where's your money?

These two teams had met before in Group A earlier in the day and that FC Kicks edged it 3-2. If they could repeat the feat then they would be champions. Sporting Armada came into the game on the back of a mammoth 9-2 win which could well make them favourites.

With the match underway it was FC Kicks who quickly established themselves in the Cup Final and they did it in style. They were simply sensational in a first half that saw them race to a 3-0 lead. Auke Jager was FC Kick's top scorer today and he added two more to his total before captain Chun Wah Lam added the third. There was some hope for Sporting Armada as they pulled a goal back before half-time when Harry Tampsett made it 3-1.

Sporting Armada had a massive job on their hands in the second half and it was to get that bit tougher when FC Kicks made it 4-1 through Thijs van Puel. Sporting Armada were not out of it at this stage as Will Wood reduced the lead to 4-2. FC Kicks re-established a three goal cushion courtesy of Joost Ropen. The title was then wrapped up in style as Auke Jager completed his hat-trick. Final score, 6-2.

We offer our consolations to Sporting Armada who were absolutely superb on the day and put in a stunning effort. They were so close to completing that maiden eurofootballfives.com title.
