We began Round 2 with Spider Mans & Eagle versus Groove Armada.

Spider Mans & Eagle appeared here at the 2016 Amsterdam Fives with 2 teams. Spider Mans 1s began well with 3 wins out of 4 which saw them 2nd in Group C behind the eventual champions, Benecke. A narrow 1-0 defeat saw them exit at the hands (feet?) of Paralytic Athletic in the Cup Quarter-Finals. Their second team, Spider Mans Ressies, also finished 2nd in their group with 2 wins and a draw from their 4 games. They met Benecke in the Cup Quarter-Finals and were eliminated 4-0.

Today, they had opened up with a 5-3 win over Minisernal in their quest to reach the Cup again. They would probably have been favourites against Groove Armada who lost their opener but it was Groove Armada who hit the front in this one. Oli Ricketts scored his team's first of the day before Tom Vivian doubled the advantage. Spider Mans and Eagle pulled a goal back before half-time through Ryan Stevens and it was 2-1 to Groove Armada at the break.

At 2-1 down there was a sense of déjà vu from Spider Man's opening game. In that game a second half comeback saw them claim victory. Here, there was to be no further addition to the score as Groove Armada claimed all three points, 2-1.

Game #5 of Group B was Amsterdam Barbarians versus Minisernal. Both teams had made their debut this morning with mixed results. Amsterdam Barbarians had produced a solid start with a 2-2 draw and were now looking to kick on and find their first victory. Minisernal were looking to bounce back from a 5-3 defeat.

Amsterdam Barbarians hit the front in this tie with Yassin Amellal adding two more goals to his tally taking him to 3 for the day. Abdul Laouar pulled a goal back for Minisernal to make it 2-1 at half-time.

Amsterdam Barbarians has seen a 2-1 lead slip in Round 1 but they would not make the same mistake here despite Abdul Loauar pulling Minisernal level at 2-2. Rudy Takacs regained the lead for the Barbarians before Yassin Amellal completed his hat-trick for 4-2. Luca Barbet put the game safe at 5-2. There was time for Sergio Flores to reduce the lead to 5-3 but it was to be a mere consolation.

The game that would complete Round 2 was Milstead against Atletico Armada. Milstead opened up with a good point in Round 1 and, if they could build on that with a win, could join Amsterdam Barbarians at the top of the table.

Atletico Armada debuted in our tournaments at the 2019 Lisbon Tournament. They had a very up and down group phase as they went win-loss-loss-win-win-loss to finish 4th of 7 teams in Group B. They enjoyed wins 1-0 over Lads of Lisboa, 3-0 v Indoorsoccer and 6-1 v Spider Man 2s but went down 4-1 to Hampstead Heath Cruisers, 4-0 to PMPCAR and 3-0 to Spider Mans 5hitters. They qualified for the Plate Quarter-Finals were they beat Spider Mans 1s (4-3) but were eliminated against Hellgarve's Kraken in the Semi-Finals (2-0).

Armada had opened up with a 5-0 win today and were looking in good form. They continued that form in the early exchanges here as they took a 1-0 lead through Jack Matthews. Fei McCabe equalised to make it 1-1 which is how it stayed until half-time.

Jimmy Denman restored the Atletico Armada lead after the break. Milstead had been behind 3 times in this tournament and each time they had gone a goal behind they had equalized. They could not repeat the trick for a fourth time as Jimmy Denman scored his second of the game to wrap up the points for Atletico Armada. A 3-1 win and they lead Group B on 6 points.
