The
second quarter-final was an intriguing affair
as Some Like It Scott met Drop It Like It's
Scott. The game was a derby match between two
of the three “Scott” squads in the tournament.
It is not often teams from the same club meet
in eurofootballfives competition but when they
do it often has a strange atmosphere – sometimes
the games can lack a little intensity or sometimes
the games can have a bit too much intensity
with players determined not to lose to their
tour-mates.
One
thing was for sure that the Scott Jessop stag
group would have a team in the Semi-Finals and
that bragging rights were at stake for the rest
of the Amsterdam tour weekend and beyond. The
two squads had identical group records with
both producing 2 wins and suffering 3 defeats
in the group phase. As with most derbies the
form book went out the window and Drop It Like
It's Scott raised their game.
In the end one man would decide the tie in the
goal-scoring stakes. That goalscorer, who would
became a hero to half his mates and a scourge
to the others, was Joe Lazell. His goal meant
Drop It Like It's Scott would play KPN Digital
in the first Plate Semi-Final. |
