It
seems amazing the with Cheesecake FC (10 tours)
and Skidmarks (9 tours) their paths have not
yet crossed in our tournaments although they
have covered many of the same destinations over
the years. This was about to chance when they
met in Game 5 of Group C.
Both
teams had started off with good wins in their
opening fixtures. With FC Fylde Old Boys A defeat
in the previous game, there was an opportunity
to open up a 3 point lead at the top for whichever
team could win this game.
It
was Skidmarks who made the initial breakthrough
in this game as Iain Congdon put his team ahead
in the first half. So far, Group C seemed to
be the most evenly matched (certainly in terms
of the scorelines and margin) and no-one was
running away with games. This continued here.
In the end it was a goal in each half that saw
Skidmarks safely through to victory. Neil Taylor
scored the goal that put the game safe in the
second period.
It
was still early days but Skidmarks were looking
good.
