LMH
FC and Drop It Like It's Scott kicked off Round
4. The two teams sat in fourth and third place
respectively at the start of play. With two of
the third placed teams qualifying for the Cup,
qualification was still possible for either of
these sides if they could finish the group phase
Win-Win.
LMH
FC had found life tough so far this morning but
their form was about to change for the better.
Following two defeats they raced into a 3-0 lead
here. Drop It Like It's Scott had their walkover
in Round 3 and the break didn't seem to have done
them much good.
Drop
It Like It's Scott pulled it back a little in
the second half as 3-0 to LMH FC became 5-2 to
LMH FC. They had given themselves too much to
do after that first half blitz from LMH FC.
There
was a hat-trick for Rex Worth plus goals for Simon
Lewis and Billy Henson. Joe Lazell and Dan Goord
were the men to score for Drop It Like It's Scott.
The
next game of Round 4 was the academic exercise
of adding Magnum's 3-0 walkover win to the league
standings. See the table below for how we ended
Round 4.
To
conclude Round 4 we had Melee FC versus KPN Digital.
Melee FC were strong favourites as they boasted
9 points from a possible 9 including a thumping
4-0 win over their nearest challengers in the
table. A fourth win of the day would secure them
Cup qualification with a game to spare.
KPN
Digital would come into this game with renewed
confidence. Having lost their first two games
they broke their duck with victory in Round 3.
With a walkover to come in Round 5 they could
still qualify for the Cup with victory here. It
would be a tough ask to beat Melee FC and they
were certainly not expected to claim victory from
this game.
After
a closely matched first half the teams went into
the break with Melee FC only holding a slender
2-1 lead. Tom Clark and Kevin Lewis goals meant
Melee FC held the advantage. Wouter Koeleman's
goal was notable as the first goal Melee FC had
conceded today.
We
expected Melee FC to kick on in the second half
but it was not to be the case. KPN Digital deserve
great credit for turning this game around and
securing a fine 3-3 draw. Wouter Koeleman and
Bilal Tovar scored in the second period. For Melee
FC, Kevin Lewis's second goal of the game ultimately
earned a point for the English team.
Melee
FC were kicking themselves for letting points
slip after putting in so much hard work in Rounds
1-3. The draw should not prove too damaging to
their Cup qualification hopes though.
