Round 3 started with Municipality of Raanana “hosting” Cheesefake. We say hosting as Municipality of Raanana were the “home” team for the fixture but were the travelling team for the tournament.

We often say momentum is a big thing in these tournaments – if it is with you results blossom, if it is against you it can be tough to get things back on track. Cheesefake FC needed a win to stop the momentum against them. They won their first game but had just tasted defeat for the first time in their last game. They needed to bounce back and get their campaign on track. Municipality of Raanana came into this game on the back of a morale boosting 3-2 win over Municipality of Raanana.

It was Cheesefake who struck first in this one. Shaeef Abdoelhak was making his personal debut for Cheesefake and he capped it with a goal. It would earn his team a 1-0 half-time lead.

Municipality of Raanana hit back after the break thanks to an Oren Tavor double. At full-time though it was honours even. Jelte Huizing, another man on Cheesefake debut, was also on target. The match finished 2-2.

The result saw the two teams occupy the mid-table spots in Group C.

At kick-off, FC Fylde Old Boys had slipped to fourth due to the draw between the two teams in the previous game. A win would send them joint top although Skidmarks would have a game in hand. They had just tasted defeat for the first time today so would be keen to get back to winning ways.

La Morte O I Gladioli were steadily improving. They started off with a 2-0 defeat and then captured a 1-1 draw. If they could go on and win this one they would be one of three teams with a share of 2nd place on 4 points and leave their opponents down in 5th.

It was Fylde FC Old Boys A who lead at the break but they did not have it all their own way. Ramzy Elftesi and Chris Brown goals afforded them a 2-1 lead over the Dutch team. It was by no means over though thanks to Riemer Van Der Velde's goal.

La Morte O I Gladioli came from behind in Round 2 but were unable to repeat the feat in Round 3. Ramzy Elftesi and Chris Brown repeated their double act from the first half when they each scored their second of the game. The goals helped them through to a 4-1 win at full-time.

We were now past the half-way stage in Group C and things were starting to take shape. Skidmarks had the only 100% record left in Group C and now had their game in hand over their nearest rivals and a chance to open up a 3 point lead at the top.

In their way stood Scotty Doesn't Know. They had 1 point from 6 but Skidmarks were not really the team to face to get a first win under their belts. This is their group phase record in our tournaments:

So far today Skidmarks had another 2 victories to add to the total. Just 4 defeats in 41 games was a great record. It was soon to be just 4 defeats in 42 group games.

A Neil Taylor double outgunned an Adam Watson goal for Scotty Doesn't Know. Taylor's second goal also took them to the century of goals in the group phase of our tournaments. Final score, 2-1.
