Next
up was We Pay People versus Wandsworth Athletic.
What was at stake for the 2 teams?
We
Pay People: They were already guaranteed Cup
qualification. A win would see them win Group
A with a 100% record. A draw would be enough
to win the group. Defeat would see them finish
second with a potentially more difficult Cup
Quarter-Final.
Wandsworth
Athletic: Defeat could see them slip to third
if JK Silvertown also won and with a swing in
goal difference. However, a look at the other
groups meant 10 points would be enough to see
Wandsworth Athletic qualify for the Cup regardless.
A win would see them crowned Group A champions.
Since
our move to this current venue, only Hamid Hammers
(Sco) had secured a 100% record in a 6-team
group. We Pay People were half-way there to
emulating that at half-time. Michel Raven and
Tom Reurts goals gave them a 2-1 lead.
Andy
Michel bagged goal #8 of the day for Wandsworth
Athletic in that opening period. His team hit
back in the second half to secure a very good
draw that meant they would finish the group
phase unbeaten. Owen Smith-Palmer and Andy Michel
both scored in that second period as Nafeh also
scored for We Pay People. Final score, 3-3.
