We wish you a warm welcome to the Netherlands and the tenth edition of the Amsterdam Fives since our debut in Amsterdam back in July 2008 (with a brief hiatus in 2013). We had a capacity 18-team event with teams from England, France, Germany, Israel and the Netherlands competing for glory. With our second annual Amsterdam Sixes being played on the same day this equalled our largest single Amsterdam weekend and we couldn't wait to get started.

This tournament was a hugely successful one for English teams with victories from 2008-2011. Since then we had a period of Dutch success from 2012-2016. England's BSP FC took the glory in 2017. Who would be holding the coveted trophy aloft at around 17.00 this afternoon?

The first two challengers to get us underway in Group A on Pitch 1 this year would be FC Fylde Old Boys B versus Wandsworth Athletic. Both teams had graced our tournaments before and we will preview their past experiences in more detail as we progress with this post-tour report.

The two teams played out an even first half here with the teams changing ends at 1-1. Liam Errington (FC Fylde) and Owen Smith-Palmer (Wandsworth) both scoring their team's first goal of the day. Owen Smith-Palmer then put Wandsworth Athletic 2-1 up and they didn't look back. James Platt and Andy Michel cashed in with further goals to round off a fine 4-1 victory.

Game 2 of Group A was SC Sylt (Ger) versus JK Silvertown (Eng).

Both of these teams played in the tournament last year and both teams performed well on their eurofootballfives.com debut. SC Sylt went on to lift the Plate title whilst JK Silvertown reached the Cup Semi-Final. If both teams could replicate their 2017 form then you would imagine JK Silvertown might emerge victorious.

In the first half it was the English team who got off to a flyer. They raced into a 4-1 lead at the break with Chris Wright (2), Daniel Muscat and Adem Hassan all on target. A Rene Reizammer kept the German team within striking distance.

SC Sylt reduced the deficit in the second period but they had given themselves too much to do. Reizammer was on target again and Marvin Gunther opened his personal account. At the other end, Chris Wright went on to complete a hat-trick. Final score, 3-5.

The final two teams in Group A were Some Like It Scott of England and We Pay People of the Netherlands.

Before we get too deep into this report let us brief you on today's format. We had three groups with 6 teams in each group and therefore 5 group games each. After which, depending on position, the teams would progress to the Cup or the Plate competition.

The teams finishing 1st and 2nd in each group plus the two best 3rd placed teams would progress to the Cup competition. This was to be played as a knock-out phase with Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final.

The remaining 3rd placed team plus the teams finishing 4th and 5th in each group along with the best of the 6th placed teams would progress to the Plate competition. This was to be played as a knock-out phase with Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final.

How would We Pay People and Some Like It Scott fit into this afternoon's knock-out draw. After their first group game, the Dutch would no doubt be aiming for the Cup. Some Like It Scott had history in the Plate so maybe that would be their aim. A goal in each half for Nafeh was enough to win it for We Pay People.
