Group B began with Drop It Like It's Scott from taking on Melee FC.

Melee FC were making their second appearance at the Amsterdam Fives. They last appeared at this particular tournament at the 2014 event. They started off superbly with 7-0 and 3-0 wins before a couple of defeats threatened their Cup qualification. A 6-1 win in the final group game ensured they would qualify for the elite competition. A 2-2 draw against East Compton Eagles in the QF saw them go through via penalties before a fine 4-1 SF win over Return of the Dancing Horses III meant a second successive Cup Final. They were to be Runners-Up as Athletico Do Hollande claimed their third eurofootballfives.com title.

Drop It Like It's Scott had 2 players from the FC Potsdam squad who reached the Plate Final here last summer. There was a lot of eurofootballfives.com experience on the pitch but it was Melee FC who got off to a flyer as they had done so in 2014. It was not 7-0 but not far off. They got off to a 5-0 start this time.

Kevin Lewis and David Stothard sent them on their way before Kevin Lewis grabbed a second half hat-trick. It was a perfect opener for Melee FC. There was still plenty of time left for Drop It Like It's Scott to put this early setback behind them.

Next up was Magnum versus KPN Digital as France met the Netherlands.

Magnum were also making a return to Amsterdam after competing at the 2015 edition of the tournament. They were doing particularly well with 4 wins out of 5 in the group phase before Storm Zejko defeated all teams. In hugely challenging conditions they had scored 16 goals and conceded just 5 before the Code Red weather warning curtailed the day's activities. Could they complete unfinished business here in Amsterdam in 2018? On a glorious summer's day the weather should not have an impact this year!

KPN Digital were making their debut and it was a really tough start. 3 first half and 4 second half goals meant they were on the wrong end of a 7-0 score. Bruno Parente (5) and David Teixeira (2) were the men to do the damage. Jonathan Pitrau kept a clean sheet and everything was looking good for the French team.

So, without further ado we headed on to game 3 of Group B or at least we would have done. Madmen (Hol) were due to appear for their debut but called up approximately an hour before kick-off to cancel.

This was obviously a great shame for all the other teams in Group B as they would play one less game. However, the saving grace was that we knew in advance so we lengthened the games in Group B to accommodate and therefore all teams would get the same amount of game time.

We would award 3-0 victories to each time who were due to face Madmen (Hol). In this case it was LMH FC who would have to wait a little longer to start their campaign. We apologise to them for the delay.
