With their first games under their belts it was Round 2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle in to the tournament. Up next on Pitch 1 was JK Silvertown versus FC Fylde Old Boys B.

In last year's tournament, JK Silvertown drew a really tough group – for example, Naranjitos (Spa) were 2nd of 32 teams in the 2017 Barcelona Fives but could only finish 4th in Group A of the 2017 Amsterdam Fives. JK Silvertown secured second place in the table behind Vieze Vu (Hol). Vieze Vu finished 2 nd in the Fives and won the Sixes last year (as Toros).

JK Silvertown progressed to the Cup Quarter-Finals and beat Club Atlantico Nationale, 2-0. They then met BSP FC who were on fire at this stage en route to the title. JK Silvertown were unable to halt their progress and went out 6-1.

JK Silvertown had won their opener today and were in front again here as they opened up a 4-1 first half lead thanks to a second tournament hat-trick from Chris Wright. Daniel Muscat also got in on the act for his second in as many games. Jack McCormick scored for Fylde FC Old Boys B but it looked like it would be a mere consolation. There were further goals for JK Silvertown in the second half – Gary Manning and Ben Short each scored. They were our early leaders in Group A. Full-time, 6-1.

Next up on Pitch 1 was We Pay People versus SC Sylt. This was a repeat of Game #6 of Group B at last year's tournament.

We were treated to a thriller last year with the teams scoring a combined 9 goals. It was the German team who emerged victorious, 6-3. Christian Heinl, Sebastian Krauss (x3), Christian Siegmund and Marvin Gunther were all on target in that game. All were present again this year but they faced a stronger We Pay People.

We Pay People won their first game 2-0 and were already 3-0 up at half-time in this one. Yassine Farah (x2) and Michel Raven both scored. After the break they doubled the dose. Michel Raven, Tom Reurts and Abdou Saoui meant We Pay People raced to a 6-0 win. They went top on goal difference.

To complete Round 2 we had Some Like It Scott versus Wandsworth Athletic. So far in Round 2 we had seen first game winners versus first game losers and we were to have a third such fixture here. So far, both the first game winners had gone on to make it 2 wins out of 2. Could Wandsworth Athletic emulate that and make it a three team tie at the summit of Group A?

They were made to work for it by Some Like It Scott and this was certainly the closest of the three games in Round 2 by half-time anyway. At the change of ends there was just one goal to separate the two teams. Wandsworth Athletic edged it 2-1 as goals from Tim Rickard and Andy Michel outgunned Alex Redfern's strike for Some Like It Scott.

In the second half Wandsworth Athletic increased their lead as they strode towards their second win of the day. 2-1 became 3-1 and then 4-1 as Andy Michel's second of the game and Alex Platt's opening goal of the tournament made the points safe.

Wandsworth had a share of the lead but sat in third position on goal difference. Some Like It Scott were just 1 position (but 6 points) behind in fourth place.
