The
first final of the day in the 2018 Algarve Open
would see Pique Blinders versus AC Motxo International.
With nine games of football already under their
belt the two teams would need to summon one last
burst of energy to ensure they would be picking
up winners medals in the presentation.
For
both teams it was a first @eurofootball5 final
at only the first attempt. Let's have a look at
the two teams records;
Pique
Blinders
Won
3, drawn 3, lost 3. 11 goals for, 6 against.
AC
Motxo International
Won
2, drawn 4, lost 3. 5 goals for, 5 against.
It
is worth mentioning that AC Motxo International
were on a run where they had not conceded a goal
for 3 games and had kept 5 clean sheets out of
9 games. AC Motxo had played Pique Blinder's sister
squad (Men Behaving Chadli) in the group phase.
They won the game 2-0 and a repeat would do the
Spanish team just fine.
At
kick-off this looked like it could be a very even
game and so it proved. It always looked like it
would be a low scoring game and so it proved.
In the end, just one goal would win it – who would
claim the historic goal? Step forward Luis Ricardo
Denche Pulido. He scored his second and most important
goal of the day. His strike meant that his team
would have a trophy and winners medals to take
home on the plane to Madrid.
We'd
like to offer our commiserations to Pique Blinders
for just missing out on glory as the Plate Final
proved to be a game too far albeit by the slimmest
of margins.
For
today though, the plaudits all go to one team
in the Plate competition. It was a good day's
work for AC Motxo International and a much deserved
win - the 2018 Algarve Open Plate Winners, Many
congratulations on your victory.
