The
16th June saw our annual Summer extravaganza of
football with the open age and veterans' tournaments
sharing the same stage. With 16 open age and 14
veterans teams signed up (a sell out for both)
we had a great day of football in a stunning beach
setting.
The
open age kicked us off and we witnessed a remarkable
victory from 9 Nana Budds. Our 2009 Valencia Fives
champions claimed tournament victory against Cruz
Del Sur (in the Cup Final) and Cruz Del Surely
(in the Cup Semi-Final). It was a sensational
victory as 9 Nana Budds only just qualified for
the Cup in the final round of group games. Cruz
Del Sur must have been rueing their luck as the
two teams only conceded 3 goals between them in
a total of 19 combined games.
In
the Veterans tournament, Mini FC who won here
on the Veterans last visit to the Algarve (2015)
were victorious again. They saw off a strong line-up
that included FC Mahou (2013 Algarve Open winners
and current Veterans defendin champions) and Hungary's
FC Miracle who had now finished runners-up for
two tournaments in a row.
