Into
the Cup Semi-Finals and the final four teams came
from four different nations.
First
up was the turn of Ireland and England when Askeaton
FC met FC Seagrave. Perhaps it was no surprise
that the first half was goal-less between these
sides as Askeaton FC had only conceded one all
tournament and FC Seagrave had collected two clean
sheets in a row. Credit therefore must go to the
respective defences and goalkeepers in Patrick
Noonan and Chris Allard. In their Quarter-Final,
FC Seagrave had reached half-time at 0-0 before
kicking on to win 2-0. We had a case of déjà
vu in this match as first of all Antonio and then
Matthew Allard scored the goals that propelled
FC Seagrave into the final. Tough luck on Askeaton
FC who are valued members of the eurofootballfives
tour circuit and we thought that their first Cup
final maybe on the cards but, alas for them, it
was not to be. Congratulations to them for a great
tournament and to FC Seagrave for reaching the
final. |
