Group B started on Pitch B with Breast Rummage Albion entertaining Vodafone FC. The early kick-offs are never easy the morning after the night before and it seemed Breast Rummage Albion were able to shake off their meteoric hangovers to turn in a performance against their opponents. They emerged 3-1 winners with Mike Robinson the main architect of the win scoring twice. Mark Dunbar on target to open Vodafone FC's goal account although , sadly for them, in a losing cause.

The Portuguese representatives in Group B, Maritimo FC, began their challenge for glory against Chingford Athletic. The first half was tight but the local team edged it putting the ball in the net through Ivo Santos. The second half proved more of the same and the Portuguese stretched their advantage when Hugo Seixal made it 2-0 and claimed the full 3 points on offer.

Athletico Do Hollande were making their eurofootballfives.com debut and became the first Dutch team to compete in the Algarve Open. They represented their country in fine style as the well-drilled team sprinted to a 3-0 lead before half-time with two goals from Jerrel Fraenk either-side of a Giorgio Fraenk goal keeping it in the family. Breast Rummage Albion came back into it in the second half with a goal from James Prescott keeping the scoreline respectable. The damage was done in the first-half though as the game ended 3-1.

Vodafone FC and Chingford Athletic had both lost their opening games and were aiming to bounce straight back in their second fixtures. Those watching were treated to three first half goals with Chingford Athletic holding a narrow 2-1 advantage with Matt Thompson and Daniel Costis scoring. For Vodafone FC it was Tim Romback's goal that kept them in touch. As we entered the second half the next goal was going to be vitally important and it was Daniel Costis's second of the game which took the result away from Vodafone FC. Final score, 3-1.

Game 5 was Portugal versus Holland . With both teams securing opening game victories another win here for either side would put them in command of Group B. Athletico Do Hollande captain Marvin Fraenk gave his team a 1-0 lead going into the break and it was advantage Holland . After the break the Dutch never looked back as Youssef El Ouasghiri made it 2-0 and then 3-0 before John Hanst made it 4-0 as they strolled to victory. The team from the Netherlands were sending out early signals that they meant business today.
