The afternoon knock-out phase of the 2011 Valencia Fives began with the Plate Quarter-Finals. First up was County (Re)United versus Coverton Road on Pitch A. County (Re)United had struggled early on with two narrow defeats but since then had picked up 4 points from a possible 6 so came into the game unbeaten in two games. Coverton Road had the reverse fortune with 4 points out of 6 in their opening two games but followed this up with two defeats.

Momentum goes a long way in eurofootballfives competition and looking at the pre-game preview you would think the momentum was with County (Re)United. The first goal of this game went to Coverton Road's Jack Snape. The goal seemed to reignite Coverton Road and their early tournament form seemed to find them again.

Coverton Road kicked on and stretched their lead to 4-1 as Snape grabbed a second with two further goals from Seb Palin. For County (Re)United it was game over for the day although the bar and Valencia sun awaited them.

The second quarter-final was an intriguing affair as Bridge House met Aint Got A Clue. Bridge House started slowly but had won two games on the bounce going into this game. The form of Aint Got A Clue was also following a forward trend with a victory and narrow loss coming into the game. It would be fair to say on the group records that Bridge House were favourites coming into the game.

They were living up to their billing early on and raced into a 3-1 lead by the break as James Harvey (2) and Ali Phipps put their side in command. Captain James March found the net for Aint Got A Clue and although they were two behind the goal would give them some hope going into the second half.

Aint Got A Clue clawed their way back into the game with Stuart Clarke scoring twice (his 3rd and 4th of the day) but the two goal lead was just too much for them to come back from as Toby Gardener scored a 4th for Bridge House which ultimately proved to be the match winning strike.

Bridge House were through to the semi-finals but it was, sadly for Aint Got A Clue, adios to the men in white.

Longest In The Shower were up next in the 3rd Quarter-Final against 1980 Team. The latter were Spain's sole representatives in the Plate competition as the remaining Spanish contingent had qualified for the Cup.

There was added Spanish interest as Longest In The Shower featured a Spanish loan signing Alberto who had so far done well for his English club chipping in with a couple of goals. He could not find the net in this game but his team-mates were proving proficient at finding the net themselves with Richard Harland scoring twice and David Stanton also finding the successful path to goal.

The goals were enough to see off their Spanish opposition who pushed Longest In The Shower close. 1980 Team scored twice but the English club had done enough to qualify for the Semi-Finals with a 3-2 victory.

The final Plate Quarter-Final would be contested by Kings Old Boys and Dynamo Fucdarest. Kings Old Boys were strong favourites with 2 wins, a draw and just the one defeat to their name. Dynamo Fucdarest were looking for their first victory but did have a couple of draws under their belts.

Kings Old Boys found their opposition stronger than the group record may have suggested and at half-time the teams could not be separated as they were all level at 1-1. Paul Veasey was on the scoresheet again for his 5th of the tournament although Hitesh's goal for Dynamo Fucdarest meant the teams were all square.

In the second half there was an opportunity for both teams to earn a place in the Semi-Finals against Longest In The Shower. Who could step up and find the winner? In a close game it was Alan Jones of Kings Old Boys who struck the decisive blow and their tournament would continue. For Dynamo Fucdarest the day's competition was over.
