The first Plate Semi-Final was between Coverton Road and Bridge House. Coverton Road had regained their early morning form last time out and swept into the Semi-Finals 4-1 whereas Bridge House edged a 4-3 win over Aint Got A Clue to reach this stage. Bridge House were on a run of 3 consecutive wins so must have been high on confidence.

Ian Balding drew first blood for Bridge House and it was a goal that gave his side a 1-0 lead going into the break. The onus was on Coverton Road to chase the game to keep their tournament alive and inevitably there would be gaps at the back and Bridge House took full advantage. James Harvey made it 2-0 and from then on Bridge House were ruthless.

Alex Mitchell made it 3-0 before Harvey completed a fine hat-trick with goals four and five. Ali Phipps made it 6-0 as they put Coverton Road to the sword. It was a fine victory and they were off to the 2011 Valencia Fives Plate Final.

For Coverton Road it was a cruel exit for a team that contributed a lot to the tournament. We wish them well in future tournaments.
