Into the Plate semi-finals and we started with two teams who had been here before. Atlantic Star had reached their 5 th semi-final in 5 tournaments. Only once in the previous four had they managed to make a final. Their record in eurofootballfives.com semi-finals is as follows:

Lost 6-1 to DHL Prague Red (Cze) in the 2008 Prague Trophy Plate SF.

Lost 3-0 to Wola (Pol) in the 2009 Krakow Trophy Cup SF.

Lost 2-1 to Kehar Club (Cze) in the 2009 Prague Trophy Cup SF.

Won 6-0 against Wife Can't Wrestle (Ire) in the 2010 Manchester Fives Plate SF.

Could they make it two semi-final victories on the bounce? In their way stood Los Halcones who had a record of played one, won one at this stage when they turned over Kings Old Boys in Barcelona 12 months ago.

It was to be Los Halcones who made it played two, won two when they continued their impressive run of form. Having lost their first games they had put together a run of 5-1 (v Warranty Direct), 5-1 (v Los Betetas) and now 6-1 versus Atlantic Star. Yaser El Borgi was the star of the show with four goals to add to goals from Manu Adubfour and Ben Bryant.

Aaron Conneran scored his third and Atlantic Star's last goal of the day. Atlantic Star will next be in action again at the 2011 Krakow Trophy – we look forward to seeing you then.

The second semi-final saw Karma FC entertain Los Gorriones. Karma FC were looking to enact revenge for their sister squad Triple D who bowed out to Los Gorriones in the previous round. Karma FC were also looking to make their first eurofootballfives.com final.

Los Gorriones's games had generally been low-scoring in the context of this tournament but this game was a relative goal-fest and the good news for the English team is that they scored the lion's share of the goals. Los Gorriones had only conceded 5 goals in 5 games up to now but their defence lost all of it's solidity in the face of a potent Karma FC attack.

Jason Carr and Andrew Gauld each scored twice and there was also a goal for Ian Mansley as Los Gorriones ‘against' column doubled in this one game. Karma FC did not have it all their own way as Los Gorriones scored twice but they could afford that with their goalscoring prowess at the other end.

The final score was Karma FC 5 Los Gorriones 2 and the reward for the victors was a Plate Final place against Los Halcones.
