The
2010 Valencia Fives Plate Final was to be contested
by Los Halcones and Karma FC. On a tough day of
competition both teams had played 6 games to reach
this stage and they would need to muster the energy
for one last push to make sure it was lucky game
7 for them.
Karma
FC were making their first Plate Final against
a team who already had one Plate Final under their
belts when they came runners-up to Spanish team
Equipo A in the 2009 Barca Fives. Los Halcones
would hope that experience would stand them in
good stead to go one step further this time and
claim their first eurofootballfives.com trophy.
Both
teams entered the final on a fine run of form.
Los Halcones had won their last three games scoring
16 goals and conceding just three. Karma FC's
record over the last two games was almost impressive
with 9 goals in that period conceding 3. Both
teams had good momentum.
When
the game got underway the two teams were fairly
evenly matched but Los Halcones forged ahead as
Dan Cooke broke the deadlock. It was a lead they
were to hold until half-time. In the second half,
the next goal was always going to be crucial and
when Manu Adubufour made it 2-0 Los Halcones had
one hand on the trophy. Adubufour then hit two
more to complete his hat-trick and give his team
an unassailable lead. Yaser El Borgi also got
in on the act and there could be no doubt who
the Plate champions were as Los Halcones completed
a 5-0 win.
Our
congratulations to Karma FC who exceeded their
own expectations on the day and played superbly.
This
year though, the glory, the trophy and the winners
medals go to Los Halcones. Well done lads. |
