The
final game of Group D was a straight shoot-out
for Plate qualification between Los Halcones and
Warranty Direct. Both teams could put their past
results behind them and produce the one display
they needed to progress to the Plate by finishing
4 th and leave their opponents in the Wooden Spoon
Play-offs. A draw would favour Los Halcones courtesy
of their superior goal difference.
The
result went the way of Los Halcones who finally
saw them achieve the result their general play
deserved as they surged to a 5-1 win. Yaser El-borgi
(2), Mani Adubufour (2) and Lee Turner all found
the net for Los Halcones as they made safe passage
into the Plate. For Warranty Direct, Lewis Williams
scored a consolation and ensured he, on a personal
level, scored in Europe .
Warranty
Direct went on to claim the Wooden Spoon without
kicking another ball in anger. Due to the withdrawals
in Group B we went straight through to a Wooden
Spoon Final of Warranty Direct FC v Los Herculanos
of Spain . However, Los Herculanos seemed to have
taken their 4 defeats to heart and left the tournament.
Warranty Direct had the Wooden Spoon in their
care to take home to good old blighty. |
