Game 6 of Group D was the Spanish derby between Futbol City and Los Gorriones. Futbol City had a 100% record to protect and build upon against a Los Gorriones team who could join Futbol City on 6 points.

On the back of a 6-2 win Futbol City were favourites going into the game but they did not have it all their own way. Los Gorriones put up a strong fight and pushed their illustrious opponents all the way. In the end Futbol City did do enough to win and maintain that 100% record. They recorded a narrow 2-1 victory to put them on 9 points. Los Gorriones remained in 3rd place with a place in the Cup looking out of reach. They still had work to do to guarantee Plate qualification though.

Los Halcones had performed well in their opening two games without reward so the last thing they needed was to face Galacticos. In what was proving to be this tournament's group of death Los Halcones must have been cursing the draw for drawing the group of death in the second consecutive tournament. Galacticos were looking to match Futbol City stride for stride by making it three wins from three, maintain that 100% record, move onto 9 points and secure Cup qualification.

On the pitch the result went as the form book suggested and Galacticos's upward momentum continued. Mohammed Atiq Akhtar (2), Yasseen Patel and Fazil Boodi who had scored in every game scored the goals that saw Galacticos go top again (on goal difference) in a 4-1 victory. Mani Adubufour scored the Los Halcones goal.

Warranty Direct were looking for their first victory against a Los Gorriones team who needed just a point to secure a Plate qualification place. Warranty Direct could help advance their chances with a win here. After first game defeat Los Gorriones bounced back with a victory. After losing to Futbol City in their last game they were aiming to bounce back again.

Los Gorriones proved they had a lot of character and that now famous phrase ‘bouncebackability' as they stormed to their biggest win of the day, 5-0. It was another disappointing result for Warranty Direct who were struggling to find their fine form from Barcelona . The result meant that Los Gorriones had guaranteed 3rd place. Warranty Direct had one more group game to find that winning feeling.

Game 9 of Group D was a direct shoot-out between two teams looking to claim the Group D title. A win for either team would do that and a draw was in the favour of the Galacticos squad due to their superior goal difference. Having won their group in Barcelona in November 2009, a Group victory for Galacticos would make a fine double.

Futbol City had probably had to fight harder for their wins than Galacticos thus far and you could read into this that Galacticos were the better and more fluent team. You could also argue that Futbol City had a great deal of mental toughness by coming through tight matches.

Once the game kicked off it was Futbol City who took the lead through Adrian . This allowed the Spanish to draw Galacticos onto them and hit them on the break. Wilmar Asensi Alberola made it 2-0 and then Alberto Cano Martinez made it 3-0 in what looked like a comfortable win. It was a deserved win but far from comfortable and Futbol City had produced a great display to secure their fourth win in four games. The Group D title was theirs!

The final game of Group D was a straight shoot-out for Plate qualification between Los Halcones and Warranty Direct. Both teams could put their past results behind them and produce the one display they needed to progress to the Plate by finishing 4 th and leave their opponents in the Wooden Spoon Play-offs. A draw would favour Los Halcones courtesy of their superior goal difference.

The result went the way of Los Halcones who finally saw them achieve the result their general play deserved as they surged to a 5-1 win. Yaser El-borgi (2), Mani Adubufour (2) and Lee Turner all found the net for Los Halcones as they made safe passage into the Plate. For Warranty Direct, Lewis Williams scored a consolation and ensured he, on a personal level, scored in Europe .

Warranty Direct went on to claim the Wooden Spoon without kicking another ball in anger. Due to the withdrawals in Group B we went straight through to a Wooden Spoon Final of Warranty Direct FC v Los Herculanos of Spain . However, Los Herculanos seemed to have taken their 4 defeats to heart and left the tournament. Warranty Direct had the Wooden Spoon in their care to take home to good old blighty.
