Atlantic
Star moved onto 9 points at the top of
Group A as they collected their three walkover
points from the non-fixture against Leos
Latinos.
Back
on the field it was Rigford
Seahawks versus Dogshead
FC which was expected to be a tasty encounter
with two of the best teams in the tournament preparing
to do battle. An enthralling contest ensued with
neither team giving an inch and honours were even
at half time, 0-0. With the group standings as
they were it was Rigford Seahawks who arguably
needed the result more than Dogshead and it was
they who drew first blood when Wayne Hayes struck
the opening blow. The lead did not last long as
Adam Denovan quickly put the teams level at 1-1.
Both teams went for the win but there was to be
no further goals. A point for each team and from
where we were sitting it was a deserved draw for
each team.
Next
up was SK Zelenec
versus DHL Prague Blue.
After quiet starts these two teams now had to
get a result to kickstart their campaign and put
pressure on the English teams who were making
the running at the top of the table. Rob Millan
scored the game's first goal to put DHL Prague
Blue ahead 1-0 at half-time. A flurry of goals
in the second half with Millan again on the scoresheet
plus strikes from Michal Novak and Tomas Krul
meant the teams were level again at 2-2. A draw
was not ideal for either team and they each needed
the full value of 3 points for a win. A fifth
and decisive goal proved elusive and the teams
would have to settle for a point each.
Given
the two draws in this round we were very much
as we were when we started although Atlantic Star's
place at the top was looking that much healthier.
