Atlantic
Star came into the tournament claiming
their best team yet and they lived up to their
billing with a fantastic early scalp of SK
Zelenec. The opening half saw John Sweeton
score Atlantic Star's first goal of the day before
Adam Whittaker made it 2-0 to put them in firm
control. John Sweeton added his second of the
game to put Atlantic Star 3-0 up in the second
half and from then on they closed the game out.
This was a fine 3-0 victory for the English team
and provided some crucial early momentum in the
tournament. SK Zelenec are 3-time eurofootballfives.com
semi-finalists in Prague and had time to bounce
back to ensure they would reach that stage again.
Rigford
Seahawks were on a 3 match unbeaten streak
from the 2009 Krakow Trophy where they were crowned
champions. They continued where they left off
when Richard Clements put them 1-0 up against
DHL Prague Blue.
The DHL Prague Red team had suffered a 5-1 defeat
to the Seahawks back in Krakow but their Blue
counterparts would fare better although still
up on the losing side. They restricted the Seahawks
to a 2-0 win. Ben Kent was the scorer of the second
goal for the English team that took their unbeaten
run to four games and the perfect start in their
campaign for Prague glory.
We
had been looking forward to some glorious Samba
style football from Leos Latinos but sadly the
team were a no-show so Dogshead
FC earned a 3-0 walkover although they
would need to wait a little longer to show off
their skills on the pitch.
