We were down to our final 4 teams in the Plate competition with 3 nations represented – Czech Republic, England and Ireland.

The first Semi-Final would see the Plate favourites It's Back take on Saipan FC. It's Back were the highest ranked team in the group phase and were on a run of four games unbeaten. It was quite a challenge for Saipan FC who were two games unbeaten themselves. If you were looking at other games for a barometer then both teams had played AC Lesk with both securing draws - Its Back 3-3 and Saipan FC 0-0.

It's Back started slowly and, by their own later admission, with a little bit of complacency quickly found themselves 2-0 down as Max Halley scored both goals to put Saipan FC in a commanding position.

At this stage of the tournament with the teams getting stronger it is always difficult to come through two goals down. Saipan FC goalkeeper Thomas Irish had not conceded in the previous two games and a third successive clean sheet here prevented It's Back getting a foothold in the game.

The game finished 2-0 and it was sadly game over for It's Back. It was a great result for Saipan FC who had qualified for a European final at the first attempt.

The second Semi-Final was an encounter between two teams who had already met in Group C with Wafty Crankers meeting Fridays. The previous encounter had been decided in controversial fashion with Fridays winning 1-0. Wafty Crankers had felt aggrieved at a referees' decision and now they had the perfect opportunity to make amends on the field.

The game had many echoes of the previous match where the game was very even and the teams played out a 0-0 first half. Again with similarity to the previous fixture there was to be a goal in the second half and it was to be a decisive goal in a 1-0 victory. Last time it was Fridays FC who scored it, this time it was Wafty Crankers James Rowland who found the net.

We sadly had to say farewell to Fridays on this occasion but they had been a great asset to the tournament. Wafty Crankers would progress and they would meet Saipan FC in the Plate Final.
