DHL
Prague were not top for long as FC Radbroke
claimed their 3 points in the walkover against
Slow & Old United. They moved onto 12 points
and their Cup qualification was assured.
The
next game of Wafty Crankers versus Fridays was
an opportunity for the English team to join
DHL Prague in 2nd place on 9 points and with
it virtually assure themselves of qualification
to the Cup. For Fridays, three defeats by the
narrowest of margins meant they were already
looking at the Plate but had pride to play for
and if they could finish with a couple of wins
could gain some momentum going into the Plate
and if they could move up the table, in theory,
secure an easier Quarter-Final draw.
As
with all Fridays games so far the first half
was close but this time they managed to preserve
a clean sheet and go in at the break level at
0-0. The decisive moment in the match was also
to be a controversial one. Wafty Crankers believed
they had a corner but the referee awarded a
goal kick to Fridays from which they went up
the other end and scored the games' only goal
through Niklas Mattsson's second of the tournament.
The
1-0 victory for Fridays saw them remain in 5th
place but catch the teams above them. Wafty
Crankers sat in 3rd place with one game to go
– Cup qualification was in their reach and in
their own hands.
