Last but not least, we come to Group C where the group began with two of our most loyal teams over the years as DHL Prague encountered Wafty Crankers. DHL Prague were making a record 13th appearance in eurofootballfives competition. Their best achievements to date have been a 2nd Place finish in the 2007 Prague Trophy, victory in the 2008 Barca Fives Plate plus Plate runners-up finishes in the 2008 Prague Trophy, 2010 Krakow Trophy, 2010 Prague Masters and 2010 Prague Trophy. It is their second tournament of the season after joining us in Budapest back in May.

Their opponents, Wafty Crankers, made their debut in the 2008 Prague Masters reaching the Plate Semi-Finals and followed this up with a Cup Quarter-Final performance in the 2009 Amsterdam Fives where they unfortunately lost on the Golden Goal rule having earlier topped their 5-team group with a 100% record. In 2010 they reached the Barcelona Fives Plate Semi-Finals and 5 th in their group of the 2010 Manchester Fives missing out on the knock-out phase.

These two teams had met before back in the 2008 Prague Masters when DHL Prague had raced into a 4-0 lead before the Wafty Crankers had pegged them back to 4-4. This time round the Wafty Crankers started better than 3 years ago forging a lead and maintaining it as they ran out 4-1 winners on this occasion. Amazingly, Wafty Crankers had exactly the same goalscorers as the 2008 fixture – James Rowlands (2), Mike Phillips and Neill Fraser. Rob Millan scored a consolation goal for DHL Prague.

Match 2 in Group C also saw a loyal friend of eurofootballfives, FC Radbroke, kick off against Fridays of the Czech Republic. FC Radbroke make their third eurofootballfives appearance in Prague. They produced a solid display first time round in the 2009 Barca Fives where they progressed from a difficult Group A to meet Bulgaria's Lozenetz City in the Cup Quarter-Finals. They lost this match narrowly 3-2 which is no disgrace against such a team. In Valencia, they won Group B and progressed to the Cup Semi-Finals where they went out to eventual champions Futbol City. We are sure there is a tournament victory in them in the not too distant future – will it be today?

Fridays were making their debut in our tournaments but were no strangers to eurofootballfives action as captain Lukas Vrba had previously played for the Widow Makers and scored a few goals along the way. He brought a new team to the Prague Masters party for 2011.

It was the team from England who started the brighter as Mike Brandon put FC Radbroke 1-0 up in the first half. The game was evenly contested and with no further scoring the Brandon goal ensured his team took all 3 points.

The last two teams to get underway were Kehar Club versus Slow & Old United. Kehar Club were the 2007 Prague Masters Winners (our very first Prague tournament) and since then have finished runners-up in both the 2008 and 2009 Prague Trophy. Last year they finished 2nd Group D before going 4-2 in the Cup Quarter-Finals to the eventual champions. Could they regain glory this year?

Slow & Old United were due to make their debut but due to serious illness of the Slow & Old United manager leading to hospitalization just 2 days before the tournament they understandably had to withdraw at the last minute. Our commiserations to all concerned and we wish Barry Davidson a speedy recovery to full health.

So, it meant that Kehar Club did not get their challenge underway just yet but they did have their first points on the board courtesy of a 3-0 walkover victory (which all other teams due to play Slow & Old United would eventually receive).
