Group B began with two debutant teams as CIS took on the exotically named Saipan FC of Ireland. Without favouratism or bias we would like to make special welcome to CIS who were becoming the first team to represent Belarus in our tournaments. They join teams from as far afield as Japan, New Zealand and Jordan (amongst many others) to compete in eurofootballfives.com action.

The opening Group B game was keenly contested by two committed teams and there was to be just the one goal to separate the two sides as Valery Ivashka got CIS off to the perfect start and claim their first three points of the day.

For Saipan FC it was a tough opening game and one in which they performed well. They showed signs of quality that would surely bode well for the rest of the day.

Match 2 saw FC Xaverov take on Dark Horses. FC Xaverov, of the Czech Republic, made their debut in the 2010 Prague Masters and had a pretty tough draw. They finished 2nd in their group behind champions Olympic Phil Babb and then got knocked out in the Cup Quarter-Finals to 2010 Prague Trophy champions Deportivo. They will hope for a kinder draw this time.

Dark Horses made their eurofootballfives debut in the 2010 Amsterdam Fives where they claimed success at the first attempt when they lifted the Plate Trophy. They also boasted the Amsterdam top goalscorer in 2010 as captain Richard Walker topped the goalscoring charts with 8 goals.

FC Xaverov started off well in contrast to the Dark Horses who started off slowly (largely due to the delights of Prague's nightlife). FC Xaverov completed a highly professional victory with goals from Petr Dvorak and Rudolf Schiller to give the Czech side their first 3 points. Although early days, they topped the Group B table after Round 1.

The final teams in Group B to start their challenge were Norton Old Boys versus local team Zizkov Drunks FC. Norton Old Boys played in the 2010 Barcelona Fives and were in the same group as It's Back. They were less successful than It's Back and missed out on the knock-out phase. We wish them better luck this time and a kinder draw as they had a very tough group.

Zizkov Drunks make their 4th appearance after appearing as Harp Hospada and Harp Chancers in our two 2009 tournaments. With a fresh team and new name, Widow Makers, they were much improved for the 2010 Prague Trophy where they finished 8 th overall and picked up two victories on the way. Will another name change lead to further progress?

Not for Zizkov Drunks on this occasion as Norton Old Boys put in a strong opening performance to claim a 2-1 victory as captain Dave Thomas scored their first of the day before Mark Paget claimed the match-winning goal. Timur Vagapov got the goal for Zizkov Drunks although it was to prove just a consolation.

Congratulations to Norton Hill Old Boys who claimed their first goals and first victory in eurofootballfives.com competition.
