The first game of Round 2 saw Dark Horses take on CIS of Belarus. Had Dark Horses managed to shake off last night's shackles or could CIS make it a perfect start to their campaign with two wins out of two?

 

Joyously for Belarus supporters and sadly for English supporters it was the latter. By their own admission, the Dark Horses had not turned up with their ‘A' game thus far and they found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat. There was still 3 games for them to turn their form around so all was not lost yet.

 

For CIS it was another great performance as Valery Ivashka scored for the second game in a row to open the scoring before Maxim Livotchkin made it 2-0 and finally Pavel Tomash completed the scoring for 3-0. Goalkeeper Sergei Livotchkin kept his second clean sheet and CIS were looking a very tidy outfit.

 
 
 

Next up was Norton Hill Old Boys against FC Xaverov. It was a game between the top two at the end of Round 1 and another win here would see them maintain joint top with CIS.

 

The game proved extremely tight and Norton Hill Old Boys were maintaining their improved form from Barcelona and took the game all the way. For long periods it looked as if they would claim a point with a 0-0 draw which would be a great result.

 

FC Xaverov were not to settle for a draw and showed why they had done well previously in our tournaments by popping up to claim a late winner through Petr Dvorak. It was his second in as many games and a goal that would earn a 1-0 victory. They did indeed go joint top but it was cruel luck on Norton Hill Old Boys.

 
 
 

Zizkov Drunks and Saipan FC met in the final game of Round 2 with both teams looking to bounce back from opening game defeat. In the first half, there was to be just the one goal and it came from Tom Bird to give Saipan FC ascendancy in the fixture.

 

Zizkov Drunks, comprising one Englishman and 8 Uzbekistanis, could not muster a recovery in the second period and in fact fell further behind as Tom Bird added a second and a third goal to claim a fine hat-trick.

 

The final score was 3-0 and Saipan FC's challenge was now up and running in earnest as they moved into 3rd place in Group B. Zizkov Drunks were in 5th place.
