Next
up was a crucial game at the foot of the table
of Group B as we had the teams currently occupying
6th and 7th coming face to face. Beeston Operation
Leeds had just picked up their first three points
of the day and if they could make that 2 out
of 2 they still had a chance of making the Cup.
Anything less and you would feel that the Plate
was the most likely destination for their knock-out
football.
For
Janssen Portugal, Cup qualification was beyond
them as they had two games left and the team
currently occupying 4th were on 7 points. However,
all was not lost. If they could win their last
couple of games they would go into the Plate
with momentum and if they could finish 5 th
would earn a bye to the Semi-Finals and avoid
a tricky Quarter-Final tie.
Beeston
Operation Leeds would have come into the game
on a high after a good 3-1 win over JNJ Pinewood
but they would no doubt have left the field
disappointed having slipped to a 1-0 defeat
in this match. It meant they would fall below
their opponents on goal difference.
For
Janssen Portugal it could be said this win was
overdue after some narrow defeats. Mateus Vargas
was the goal-scoring hero and his strike earned
his team their first win of the day. The team
sang and celebrated as if they had won the tournament.
The beers and their spirits were flowing.
