Next
up was another crucial game at the top of the
table in Group B as we had the teams currently
occupying 2nd and 3rd position coming face to
face. A win for either would see them top the
table at the end of Round 4. A draw or defeat
would see them stay in the Cup qualification
places but still with some work to do going
into the final stages of the group.
JNJ
Middle East were enjoying their best start to
a JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament with 2 wins from
2 games and, like Maidenhead 1, came into Round
4 without conceding a goal. Maidenhead 1 lost
their record above, could JNJ Middle East retain
theirs?
It
was so far so good at half-time as Amein Abbas
remained unbeaten on the day in the JNJ Middle
East goal. It was even better for his team as
a Matt Tominey goal gave them a first-half lead.
Win #3 was on the cards.
JNJ
Pinewood were unbeaten up to this point but
that record was under threat against a JNJ Middle
East that were looking very good and building
up some momentum. Since an opening game brace
the team had struggled a little in front of
goal with 1 successful strike in the last 2
games – they needed at least 1 here to avoid
slipping to a first defeat. The next goal of
the game went to Michael Le Bihan though as
JNJ Middle East extended their lead to 2-0.
Their
proved to be no way back for JNJ Pinewood as
their first defeat would see them slip to 5th
position – a harsh reflection on their exploits
so far as they arguably deserved more. JNJ Middle
East were flying.
