We began Round 6 with GBS Reds about to kick-off their 6 th and final group game. Due to results in Round 5 qualifying for the Cup was now beyond them but they could still finish 5th. This would be a cherished position as it would mean a bye straight into the Plate Semi-Final and bypassing the Quarter-Finals. For this they needed to win and hope JNJ High Wycombe would pick-up no more than 1 point from their final 2 games.

Their opponents would be Maidenhead A who had just enjoyed a rest in Round 5. They had performed well before the break with 2 wins and 1 draw from their four games – could they pick up from where they left off? It looked that way as they took a 1-0 lead into half-time with a goal from Vincent Tavernier.

The goals flowed after the break for both teams. Gennady Besedin, Niall Dowling and Yacine Rehoudja all notched for Maidenhead A whilst Harris Vignozzi and David Alonso found the net for the team from Prague.

It was a good win for Maidenhead A that all but secured their place in the Cup competition this afternoon. For GBS Reds, they would be playing Plate football this afternoon.

The above result meant that Synthes UK 2 could move above GBS Reds with 1 win from their final 2 games. They had just picked up their first point so would no doubt be in relatively buoyant mood….until they realised they would be facing the league leaders in the shape of JNJ Poland.

This was a top versus bottom clash with 9 points separating the teams at kick-off. You would be a brave man to bet against a JNJ Poland win. JNJ Poland were in control for most of the game and they ran out 4-1 victors.

Jacek Banas made a massive step towards the top goalscorer award as he scored all 4 goals for the team from Warsaw as he moved from 8 goals to 12 goals for the day. He was making it very difficult for anyone to catch him.

There was some personal consolation for James Dunstan of Synthes UK 2 who scored his second goal in as many games.

JNJ Medical Russia could go above JNJ Poland in the table if they could better the Polish team's result. JNJ High Wycombe could still make the Cup although they currently sat in fifth position. They would need 3 points from 6 and the Rodallega Bombs to lose their final game.

The odds were against JNJ High Wycombe making the Cup and after the first half here they had lengthened considerably. This game was a repeat of the Budapest 2013 Cup Final which JNJ Russia won 5-0. This game followed a similar pattern with JNJ Medical Russia establishing a 4-0 lead by half-time.

There was two goals each for Vladimir Doroshenkov and Andrey Sheremetyev and at this stage they were heading to the summit of Group A. A second half goal that may have seemed insignificant in the context of the match would mean that JNJ Medical Russia would stay in second position behind JNJ Poland. Alex Parkinson's seventh successful strike of the day would mean the match would finish 4-1.

It meant that JNJ Medical Russia could only match and not better JNJ Poland's result and so remained in second place. For JNJ High Wycombe, the result meant that Cup qualification for them hung by a thread.
