Group B began with Slavoj Consumer from the Czech Republic taking on JNJ Middle East.

Slavoj Consumer made their debut at the 2012 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament in Prague. They had a slow start to their 2012 campaign with 2 defeats and 2 draws in their group before an 8-0 win kick-started their challenge. They qualified for the Plate and won their Quarter-Final 3-0, Semi-Final on penalties and completed a 3-1 victory in the Final over JNJ Pinewood. At the 2013 event in Budapest they had a tough start against the eventual winners JNJ Russia A losing 2-0 before bouncing back with a 1-0 win over JNJ High Wycombe B. They equalled their record win, 8-0, over Disaster (Hol) and looked on course for the Cup as they defeated Fi Tighe (Eng) 2-0. Final game defeat to JNJ Serbia (4-1) meant they would play in the Plate though. A 4-2 win over JNJ Wuppertal saw them reach a second successive Plate Final. They met Fi Tighe again and it went all the way to penalties. After an epic shoot-out Slavoj Consumer won the Plate again 5-4 on penalties.

Slavoj Consumer returned to the tournament in Prague 2015 and had their most successful group phase to date. They won Group B ahead of the then-defending champions JNJ High Wycombe A. They qualified for the Cup for the first time but went out 4-1 to JNJ Turkey in the Quarter-Finals.

At the Prague 2015 tournament JNJ Middle East (more on them later) finished 5th in their group before a Plate Semi-Final exit so we fancied Slavoj Consumer as favourites for this one. JNJ Middle East made a mockery of that prediction though as a Matt Tominey goal helped JNJ Middle East to a 1-0 victory. A perfect start for them.

Game 3 of Group B saw Maidenhead 1 against Beeston Operation Leeds. Both teams were on debut and so they had a blank canvas upon which to paint their footballing artistry. Let the games commence……

Maidenhead 1 had seen their sister squad Maidenhead A get off to a great start in Group A with a 4-0 win so had a lot to live up to. It was defences and goalkeepers on top after the early exchanges and we reached half-time with the two teams level at 0-0. As so often is the case the second half opened up a little and we had a couple of goals to savour. It was Maidenhead 1 who took the lead through their number 11 – Antonio Landa Alvarado.

So who would grab the second and final goal of the game – would it be Maidenhead 1 to secure victory or Beeston Operation Leeds earning a point? If you were a Maidenhead 1 fan then you would be celebrating Andrew Lewis's goal that made it 2-0 and secured all 3 points for his team.

It was a solid start to the tournament for Maidenhead 1. Beeston Operation Leeds still had time on their side to make their mark in the tournament.
