Big Time Krakow (Pol)

With 7 teams in each group, 1 team would sit out each round. In Round 1 it was Pink Lloyd B but they would kick us off in the second round of fixtures having had a chance to size up their opposition from Round 1. They were up against Fabryka Zieleni – it was a daunting task.

At the 2018 Gdansk Tournament they were almost perfect as they won 5 out of 5 group games with 31 goals scored and just 2 goals conceded. It included a 3-2 win over the eventual champions. In the knock-out phase they defeated Alea Iacta Est from Warsaw, 2-0. The Semi-Finals saw a superb 4-1 win over The A Team of France. They then met Northern Town again in the Cup Final. The match finished 1-1 in normal time but it was the English team who took the title 3-2 on penalties.

Today they already had a 5-1 win to their name. Pink Lloyd B were in the firing line and Fabryka Zieleni were ruthless as they hit a magnificent seven past the English team. Lukasz Abryszinski scored 4 and was ably assisted by a hat-trick from Andrej Mechlinski.

Pink Lloyd B – don't worry. Not all games would be this tough!

Game 5 of Group B was to be Clandestinos versus The Post Office.

Both teams now had a game each under their belts and would look to kick on. The Post Office were moments away from opening game victory but had to settle for a point. Hopefully they'd be able to secure that in this game. Clandestinos would be no pushovers though. They lost 4-1 to Big Time Krakow in Round 1 but the game was closer than the score suggested and they gave as good as they got for large periods.

Clandestinos were giving a helping hand at the start of this fixture. They conceded an own goal in their last game but were the beneficiaries of an OG here. Paul Billingsley the unfortunate player to beat his own keeper.

In these goals the second goal of the game is often the crucial one. A two goal lead is hard to peg back but an equaliser would very much be game on. It would be Clandestinos who would celebrate the second goal in this match as Gianluca Ft scored his first of the tournament.

The victory was secure when Mouad Sallouli scored for the second game running to make it 3-0.

To complete Round 2 we had DDCH versus Big Time Krakow.

For the “away” team, this was their second performance at our events having made their debut at the 2017 Krakow Trophy. They secured 2 wins and 2 draws from their 5 group games as they finished second to Switzerland's Krakowcaine. They qualified for the Cup Semi-Finals and defeated Fylde FC B 2-1. In the Cup Final they drew 0-0 with Slovakia's GSF Drunkerz but won 4-3 on penalties. Could it be title #2 in Gdansk?

It certainly started well with a 4-1 win in Round 1. They were on the winning trail again here as Carlos Diaz Bedmar broke the deadlock. 1-0 became 2-0 thanks to Alex Herrera and then 2-0 became 3-0 with Adrian Paz's second goal of the tournament.

DDCH had opened up with two defeats but they had been dealt a particularly difficult fixture list with the 2018 Gdansk runners-up and the 2017 Krakow Trophy winners in their first two games. They still had four group games to ignite their tournament campaign.
