At the start of Round 6 we added Pink Lloyd A's 3-0 walkover win against TS Marpoli. The table looked a little brighter for them (not as bright as their shirts mind).

Alea Iacta Est had their work cut out if they wanted to reach the Cup for the second time in as many tournaments. This was a must win game for them. They were currently 4 points behind their opponents at kick off with just one further round of fixtures to come.

Rain Dragons were currently enjoying their strongest tournament since the campaigns of the 2014 Amsterdam Fives where their two teams finished 2nd and 3rd (both qualified for the Cup) and the 2015 Amsterdam Fives where they also finished second and qualified for the Cup. Unbeaten in 8 games in our tournaments they looked set to make the Cup again. However….

Alea Iacta Est had other ideas. They had already won 8-0 earlier in the day but this result was arguably their best to date. The Polish team took the lead through Pedro Silveira. 1-0 became 2-0 thanks to Artur Aksamit which then became 3-0 thanks to Pawel Kowalczyk. Will Watkins was then unfortunate as he chased back to help his defence only to see a cross ricochet off him into the net for 4-0. We finished as we started with a Pedro Silveira goal and the game ended 5-0 to Alea Iacta Est.

It was a striking result, Rain Dragons retained second position but Alea Iacta Est were now just a point behind them.

Game 18 of Group B was between Dragon Balls and TaHU. Dragon Balls still had ambitions of reaching the Cup. Two wins from their final two games would do it if Alea Iacta Est and Rain Dragons failed to win their games in Round 7. Dragon Balls had their walkover to come in Round 7, so this was effectively their opportunity to make their case for Cup qualification.

TaHU currently sat on 4 points and could actually move above their opponents with a win. Cup qualification for them was still mathematically possible if not unlikely due to goal difference. They needed to win big here and then beat Alea Iacta Est combined with Rain Dragons losing their final game. TaHU's goal difference was -3, Alea Iacta Est was +9 so it was a tall order. It would be academic unless they could win this one.

Dragon Balls had started the day really well with 2 wins out of 2 but since then they had lost 2 out of 2. Could they regain that form? They were fine in defence but going forward they were finding it difficult to penetrate the Finnish defence.

The two teams threw everything at each other but the game went from first whistle to final whistle without troubling the scorers. It was the first 0-0 draw of the day – whilst both teams may have been reasonably happy with 1 point it did not help them particularly in the context of the Group A table.
