Whilst
Lucanos Locos were in the process of reaching
the Plate Final on Pitch 1. Simultaneously,
JK Silvertown and Dickie Dogs were making their
bid to reach the Plate Final against each other
on Pitch 2.
JK
Silvertown were yet to reach a final in our
events having lost two Semi-Finals in our tournaments
but both of those were in the Cup at Open Age
level. That should make them well qualified
to reach a debut final here in Barcelona. Dickie
Dogs as we discovered in the previous round
had three Plate Runners-up finishes in these
tournaments. They needed to win this to give
them a shot at righting that particular wrong.
JK
Silvertown were one of the form teams in the
event at the moment and there was a growing
belief in the camp. Dickie Dogs had been one
of the stand out performers today – where's
your money?
If
you'd backed JK Silvertown then you'd be collecting
your winnings. They'd won 4-0 in the last round
with 4 goals from Chris Wright. Wright was the
man of the moment again as he put JK Silvertown
1-0 up. The game was still in the balance but
Wright was on target once more. Not only did
it put JK Silvertown 2-0 up but it also took
his personal tally for the tournament to 10
goals and to 29 goals in 3 tournaments with
us.
It
was a sensational record but it was not just
about goals for JK Silvertown as Tony Varghese
had just kept his second clean sheet in a row
and conceded just 2 in their last 5 games.
Dickie
Dogs had been superb today but their tournament
was now over. They would celebrate their performance
on Saturday evening with a team meal where David
Garcia Gallego was voted their player's player
of the tournament.
