The
20th game of Group A was Atletico Funk versus
TNF. If Atletico Funk hadn't picked up a win
in their previous game this would have been
a real nail-biter, a straight shoot-out for
the final Plate qualification place. However,
Atletico Funk's win over Bure Park Seniors meant
there was no such drama. There was still much
to play for though as Atletico Funk could still
climb to fifth and secure a (theoretically)
easier Plate QF tie.
For
TNF this was a last hurrah. They knew this would
be their last game of the tournament so would
be great if they could finish on a high – it
would make those post-tournament beers taste
that bit sweeter. It started off well with Steven
Kerr opening the scoring to make it 1-0. It
was the first time they'd hit the front today
rather than having to chase games even though
early games had been very close.
Atletico
Funk were getting into their groove though and
they hit back through Alex Jones. Barney Wilde
then scored his second goal in as many games
as Atletico Funk completed the turnaround from
a goal down to 2-1 up. 2-1 is how we finished
and Atletico Funk moved onto a respectable 7
points. TNF would bow out (on the pitch at least)
and it was great to see them at the post tour
social.
