We
went into Game 8 of Group B with FC Miracle
due to meet AFC Shooters.
FC
Miracle last competed here at the 2019 Barcelona
Fives for a quick return to non-Veterans action.
They enjoyed a superb campaign in the group
phase as they finished top of the group ahead
of two-time Barcelona champions, Club Esportiu
Llefia. They were unbeaten with 3 wins and 2
draws scoring 11 goals and conceding just 2
along the way. They qualified for the Cup Quarter-Finals
where they met the 2018 Gdansk Tournament winners,
Northern Town. FC Miracle fell to a 3-0 defeat.
Here
in 2023 they were in equally good shape in the
group stage picking up a 1-0 win over FC Poloboc
and a 2-0 win over Dickie Dogs. The Moldovans
had just joined them on 6 points at the top
but this was their game in hand to try and re-open
a 3 point lead. AFC Shooters had just played
the one game so far – a 1-0 loss to Dickie Dogs.
FC Miracle would not be the opponents to choose
when trying to get your first win on the board.
FC
Miracle were seemingly moving through the gears.
Captain Laszlo Zsolt put FC Miracle 1-0 up and
from there they never looked back. Peter Kollar
scored for the second game running as did Adam
Sifter. Laszlo Zsolt (top scorer at the 2017
Lisbon Veterans Tournament) added his second
of the game before Istvan Nemeth rounded off
the scoring, 5-0. It was another pulsating performance
from FC Miracle and with Marton Rekli keeping
clean sheet #3 of 3 they were looking in ominous
form.
