Match
2 in Group B saw Dickie Dogs versus Cheesecake
FC. It was two very familiar clubs on our circuit
making their debuts in our tournaments way back
in 2010. For Dickie Dogs it was Valencia and
for Cheesecake FC it was Prague and we have
been very pleased to see both teams across Europe
on multiple occasions since. In fact, Dickie
Dogs featured in our very first Veterans tournament
all the way back in 2013 which was staged in
Lisbon.
Cheesecake
FC were making their second appearance of the
season having also played at the 2023 Amsterdam
Sevens just 3 months ago. It was tough going
for the guys with a much-changed squad as they
were a hybrid Anglo-Dutch team. They opened
up with 4-0 defeats to Foot 130 of France and
Abington Stanley. A 3-0 defeat to Denmark's
Uden Filter followed before narrower defeats
to Bullets FC (2-0) and home team El Cholo,
2-1. Cheesecake FC will be stepping up to the
Veterans tournament for the first time in Barcelona.
There
was little to choose between the two teams on
the pitch and when the referee blew the final
whistle to bring the game to a close we were
still locked together at 0-0. Only time would
tell if this was 1 point gained or 2 points
lost. For now though, it was a steady opening
point and a platform to build on going forward.
