The first final of the day would see Dnipro versus Shaheens United. These two teams would need to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they would be picking up winners and not runners-up medals in the presentation.

The Plate Final saw a thrilling clash between two teams who had showcased their defensive prowess throughout the tournament, with Shaheens United conceding just three goals and Dnipro four. Both teams had also achieved three clean sheets each, setting the stage for a tightly contested match. These were two of the best three defences in the tournament statistically (the other being Humble Goats).

Dnipro, making their best appearance in our events to date, came into the final with high confidence after a commanding 4-0 win in the semi-final. Shaheens United, the defending Cup champions, were in their second final in as many years but had to shift their focus to the Plate after their title defence fell short. They could join a select band of teams who had won both Cup & Plate titles in our tournaments. Notably, Shaheens United had been unbeaten in their last eight games in the Amsterdam Sixes tournament and had only lost once in their previous 13 matches overall dating back to their debut last year. This showed formidable consistency and resilience and the size of the task ahead of Dnipro to win the Plate.

The match began with both teams displaying disciplined tactical acumen, but it was Dnipro who struck first. Pasha Melnyk, who had been instrumental in their semi-final victory, continued his excellent form by finding the back of the net to give Dnipro a 1-0 lead at halftime.

As the second half commenced, Shaheens United pushed forward in search of an equalizer. However, Dnipro's defence held strong, and they managed to extend their lead. Mitchell Scheiner added a crucial second goal, making it 2-0 and putting Dnipro in a commanding position. Despite Shaheens United's best efforts to mount a comeback, they were unable to get a foothold in the game. Pasha Melnyk sealed the victory with his second goal of the match, making it 3-0. This scoreline highlighted Dnipro's clinical finishing and solid defensive performance. This goalscoring ability across the tournament was perhaps the difference between the two teams on the day.

The final whistle blew, confirming Dnipro as the Plate champions with a comprehensive 3-0 victory. Their defensive strength and ability to capitalize on key moments were decisive in their triumph. Dnipro would finish the tournament with the second best goal difference in the event with only the Cup winners finishing ahead of them on this particular metric. Shaheens United, were unable to replicate their strong defensive record from the tournament as a whole as they conceded as many goals in this game as they had the rest of the tournament put together.

Shaheens United's journey to the final, although ending in disappointment, demonstrated their consistent quality and resilience in competitive play, with just 2 defeats in 14 matches it is no surprise they had the quality to win the competition last year. They were missing their top two goalscorers from 2023 and perhaps that was the difference between their two campaigns. We'd like to thank Shaheens United for attending and offer our commiserations for the Final.

Dnipro's victory in the Plate Final marked a significant achievement in their tournament history, showcasing their growth and potential for future success. They were worthy winners in the end. On a hot day, when other teams were wilting, they finished strongly with 3 straight wins and 10 goals scored and just 1 conceded over that period. Success in the Cup next time?
