Dnipro
(Ned) made their debut in our events at the
2022 Amsterdam Sevens. It was a tough start
with a 3-1 defeat to City FC. Two narrow defeats
followed (1-0 to Milner Street and 2-1 to The
Gentleman's Club) before they were off the mark
with a 2-1 win over Armada All Stars. They followed
this up with another victory (2-0 v The Bastards)
to finish on 6 points and secure a place in
the Plate. In the Semi-Finals they ran into
a rampant Turn Down For Watford who defeated
them 5-1.
Dnipro,
coming off a win in their first game today,
were up against Maai, who had drawn their initial
match. The game promised to be an exciting contest
with both teams eager to build on their earlier
performances. Dnipro started strong, with Pablo
Machado continuing his excellent form from the
first match. Machado struck twice in the first
half, giving Dnipro a solid 2-0 lead. Maai,
however, were determined not to go down without
a fight. Bram van Andel managed to reduce the
deficit with a well-taken goal before halftime,
bringing the score to 2-1.
In
the second half, Maai pushed hard for an equalizer.
Their efforts were rewarded when Bram van Andel
found the net again, levelling the score at
2-2. Both teams had opportunities to secure
a winner, but the defences held firm, and the
match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
