Welcome to the 2024 Amsterdam Sixes, marking the sixth edition of this prestigious tournament (and our 23rd in Amsterdam overall). Once again, this ever-popular event has sold out. Under a glorious sunny sky, the teams gathered to compete in what promised to be a thrilling day of football. With a history of exciting matches and memorable moments, the Amsterdam Sixes continues to be a highlight of our football calendar, offering fans and players alike a chance to experience the best of the European touring football in a truly festive atmosphere. Let the games begin!

The roll call of winners, with the Cup Final results, reads:

2017: Toros (Ned) 1-1 TEDO3 (Ned). Toros won 4-3 on penalties.

2018: CIS Committee (Blr) 3-0 Cheesecake FC (Eng)

2019: Kavlow (Eng) 5-2 ZVC Indoor Gent (Bel)

2022: Ball Bashers (Eng) 1-0 Humble Goats (Ned)

2023: Summerhouse (Ned) 0-0 The Shepherd's Arms (Wal). Summerhouse won 2-0 on penalties.

Today we had 3x teams representing England and 9x team representing our hosts, the Netherlands. Who would be holding the coveted trophy aloft at around 18.00 this evening?

The first two challengers to get us underway in Group A on Pitch 4 this year would be an exciting match between two debutants; Los Perros (Ned) versus Don Lowe's Dudes (Eng). The home side made an impressive start, taking the lead in the first half through Josh Taxery's precise finish, giving them a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Los Perros began to dominate the game. Cliff Herder doubled their lead with a well-placed shot, showcasing the team's growing confidence. Wesley Donkers then sealed the victory with a clinical strike, making it 3-0. Despite their best efforts, Don Lowe's Dudes were unable to break down Los Perros' solid defence.

The final whistle confirmed a 3-0 win for Los Perros, a dream start for the Dutch team in their debut match. This commanding performance sets a high bar for the rest of their tournament campaign, while Don Lowe's Dudes will be looking to bounce back in their next fixture.

Next on pitch was the famous Humble Goats, 2x Amsterdam Sevens champions. They got off to a flyer in 2022 with a 4-0 win over JK Silvertown, 2-0 win over Murder on Zidane's Floor, 3-0 win over Turn Down For Watford and a 2-1 win over FC Tpaktop put them in top spot with one game to go. It was a group decider against Colonel Getafe which they drew 0-0. As a result they finished second in the table on goal difference, by just the one goal. A hard fought Cup Semi-Final against City FC finished 0-0 with Humble Goats progressing 2-1 on penalties. It was similar story in the Cup Final with a 0-0 draw against The Gentleman's Club before going on to claim the title 3-1 on spot kicks.

12 months ago at the 2023 Amsterdam Sevens they got off to a steady start with 1-0 wins over Dynamo Leila and FNF on Tour. They began to move through the gears with a 2-0 win against Apolo Legends and 4-0 victory against Billit Dreamz. They defeated France's Bear Ballers 2-0 in the final group game to win Group B with a 100% record and yet to concede a goal. They did concede against another French team, Foot 130, in the Cup Semi-Finals but had enough in the tank to still get through, 2-1. They met Denmark's Uden Filter in the Cup Final and, just as in 2023, they drew 0-0 and required a penalty shootout (2-1) to take victory.

They would begin their campaign today against debutants Maai. The Humble Goats showcased their experience early on, taking a 1-0 lead in the first half thanks to a well-executed goal by Jihad L'Merrouni. In the second half, Maai demonstrated their resilience and ability to compete at this level. Bram van Andel found the back of the net, equalizing and shifting the momentum. Despite several attempts from both sides to find a winner, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Maai's spirited performance in their debut game earned them a valuable point against a strong opponent, while the Humble Goats will likely see the draw as a missed opportunity to secure an early win. Both teams displayed their potential, setting the stage for an intriguing tournament ahead.

The 2024 Amsterdam Sixes format consisted of two groups, each comprising six teams. Every team will play against the others in their group once, with three points awarded for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a defeat. The stakes are high as the top two teams from each group will progress to the prestigious Cup semi-finals, while the third and fourth-placed teams will move on to compete in the Plate semi-finals. Unfortunately, the teams finishing fifth and sixth in their groups will see their journeys end at the group stage.

The third match of Group A pitted Dnipro, making their second appearance in the tournament, against debutants Post Busters FC. The first half was a closely contested affair with both teams displaying strong defensive performances, resulting in a 0-0 scoreline at halftime. As the second half unfolded, Dnipro began to assert themselves more, searching for the breakthrough goal. Their persistence paid off when Pablo Machado managed to find the back of the net, giving Dnipro a 1-0 lead.

Post Busters FC fought hard to level the score, but Dnipro's defence held firm. The match concluded with a 1-0 victory for Dnipro, who secured an important win to kick off their campaign. Post Busters FC showed promise in their debut but will need to find their scoring touch in the upcoming matches.
