Next
up was Kavlow versus FC Gijon. Kavlow were the
league leaders by 1 point so far and were unbeaten
in their four games to date. They could secure
the Group B title with a win here. Winning the
group was important not just because of the
sporting glory but also because it meant they
avoided the Group A winners in the Cup Semi-Finals.
If Kavlow were to draw/lose then ZVC Indoor
Gent had the opportunity to climb above them.
It
would take a Herculean effort for FC Gijon to
get a result in this game but they had just
turned their fortunes around. They lost their
first 3 games but produced a comprehensive 6-3
win in their last match. Kavlow were a different
proposition to East Anglia Dons though (as the
league table showed).
FC
Gijon were competitive in the first half but
were still unable to prevent their opponents
taking a 1-0 lead into the change of ends. Jeremy
Tudorpole kept his remarkable scoring record
of scoring in every game going. After the break
Chad Bryce Borthwick doubled the lead before
FC Gijon got back into it thanks to a Kieran
Eastwood goal. Chad Bryce Borthwick and Jeremy
Tudorpole extinguished hopes of a comeback as
Kavlow completed a 4-1 win to take the Group
B title. Many congratulations to them.
