Round 5 of Group B and it was the final chance for each team to stake their claim for Cup or Plate qualification. We began with Team Tapas versus Shamrock Football Club.

Team Tapas could secure a place in the Plate at the very least by avoiding defeat. They would also harbor hopes of reaching the Cup but they had to win this game, hope ZVC Indoor Gent lost their final game and for goal difference to swing in their favour. Team Tapas had started well with 2 wins but 2 defeats had de-railed their campaign. Could they get back on track?

Shamrock Football Club could secure third position and a place in the Plate with a victory. If the game was to end in a draw or defeat Shamrock Football Club would have to hope that neither FC Gijon or East Anglia Dons would win their final games.

It was Team Tapas who saw a return to form in this game with Landergram Arteala putting the Spanish/Dutch ahead. They then increased the lead to 2-0 to put them in command at half-time. After the break Team Tapas continued their resurgence as Joni Vargas made it 3-0 before Landergram Arteala grabbed his second of the game. Final score, 4-0.

Next up was Kavlow versus FC Gijon. Kavlow were the league leaders by 1 point so far and were unbeaten in their four games to date. They could secure the Group B title with a win here. Winning the group was important not just because of the sporting glory but also because it meant they avoided the Group A winners in the Cup Semi-Finals. If Kavlow were to draw/lose then ZVC Indoor Gent had the opportunity to climb above them.

It would take a Herculean effort for FC Gijon to get a result in this game but they had just turned their fortunes around. They lost their first 3 games but produced a comprehensive 6-3 win in their last match. Kavlow were a different proposition to East Anglia Dons though (as the league table showed).

FC Gijon were competitive in the first half but were still unable to prevent their opponents taking a 1-0 lead into the change of ends. Jeremy Tudorpole kept his remarkable scoring record of scoring in every game going. After the break Chad Bryce Borthwick doubled the lead before FC Gijon got back into it thanks to a Kieran Eastwood goal. Chad Bryce Borthwick and Jeremy Tudorpole extinguished hopes of a comeback as Kavlow completed a 4-1 win to take the Group B title. Many congratulations to them.

The final game of Group B was ZVC Indoor Gent versus East Anglia Dons. At the start of the game it was second versus sixth. So, what were the permutations:

ZVC Indoor Gent currently on 9 points with a goal difference of +8 (16-8). They were currently level with Team Tapas on 9 points and goal difference of +8 but ahead on goals scored (14-6). It meant that a draw/win would see them finish in second place and qualify for the Cup. It also meant that a defeat would see them slip to third on goal difference and qualify for the Plate.

East Anglia Dons were in sixth position but just one point off fourth place. They needed a win to guarantee qualification for the Plate. A draw would not be enough to get fourth as Shamrock Football Club had a better goal difference.

ZVC Indoor Gent lost their first and won the next three. East Anglia Don's form was the mirror image. It looked like the Belgians winning run would continue when Michael Ingels gave them a 1-0 lead but East Anglia Dons were back level at 1-1 thanks to Craig Lawrence.

ZVC Indoor Gent then took a grip on the game as Tommy Jacobs scored his 12 th goal of the tournament. Anthony Chimkovitch, Alecandro Goemans and William Chimkovitch all scored to secure a 5-1 win.
