We began Round 3 with Terrible Football versus RSC Andylecht as fourth position took on third position. Group A was proving to be very tight with relatively low-scoring games so far. It made for a very interesting group table and every goal mattered. These two teams were locked in the mid-table positions. A win here for either team would see them join the leaders at the top. A defeat would see them lose pace with those above and vulnerable to being caught by those below.

Terrible Football had started the day well with a 1-0 win but had just lost 3-0 to the league leaders (BabyBlauuwe Beesten). They responded well as they opened the scoring in this one. Stefan Woehrmueller was the man with the goal.

RSC Andylecht had taken the lead four times and only been behind once today, now that was twice. First time round was late in their opening game as they slipped to defeat. Here it was in the first half and they had time to recover. Pat Coulter scored his second of the day to restore parity.

The match finished 1-1 and the draw meant the teams would retain third and fourth positions.

The next fixture would be BabyBlaauwe Beesten versus FC Mallard. FC Mallard are the fourth team to represent Scotland in our Amsterdam events and the first in the Sixes.

Intellectual George were the trailblazers in 2008 when they finished 3 rd in their group to qualify for the Plate but went out at the Quarter-Final stage. In 2010, it was CUGO who were one of three teams tied at the top of their group on 12 points. CUGO finished third on goal difference to qualify for the Plate. They went all the way through to the Plate Final but finished runners-up 3-1 to Dark Horses.

The most recent was the most successful when, in 2017, Hamid Hammers won Group B with a 100% record. 5 wins out of 5, 21 goals scored and just 2 conceded. In the Quarter-Finals they went out on penalties to FC Tiote after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

So far so good today for FC Mallard who were unbeaten and sat in second place. They were up against the league leaders BabyBlaauwe Beesten who had a 100% record and were yet to concede. BabyBlaauwe Beesten took the lead in this one through Casper Duin in the first half. Daniel Craik equalized in the second half to earn his team a draw, 1-1.

Game #9 of Group A would be Malo Guerreros FC versus Giggs Boson FC.

Giggs Boson FC made their debut at the 2016 Barcelona Fives. They made a superb start to life in our tournaments with 5-0 and 2-1 wins. Results tailed off as they went on to finish 6 out of 8 teams. They came alive in the Trophy knock-out phase with a 3-0 win in the Quarters versus Telferscot FC, a 3-2 win over Shahs of Sunset in the Semis before drawing 1-1 with Bolivar in the Final. The Trophy would be decided on penalties. Being typically English in a shoot-out, Giggs Boson missed out on glory (2-1).

So far today it was a case of close but no cigar as they had suffered two narrow defeats – both by the odd goal. They were up against a Malo Guerreros FC team who had just secured their first point of the day and were looking for their first victory. Although Malo Guerreros FC had just 1 point from 6 so far they had played the top two.

At half-time Malo Guerreros FC looked like they were on course for that first win when Dave Williams struck. Giggs Boson FC had other ideas though and staged a second half comeback. Will Davis scored his second goal of the tournament to get his team back on level terms before Connor Lawson scored the winning goal and claim all 3 points for his team.
